my kensai -> thief is window shopping in the item upgrade readme

there's a possible upgrade to the human flesh armour as follows

Human Flesh +5 + Malla's Soulstone + Scroll of Protection From Magic + 20,000 Gold =

Human Flesh
AC 0, Protection From Good, +1 DEX, +1 CON,
immunity to poison

my question is - are all those nice bonuses as well as or instead of the +'s to saves and magic resistance that the basic human flesh armour gives you?

I don't know the answer to that, and maybe I'm into roleplaying waaay too much, but....human flesh.....not only is that disgusting, but it's gotta be pretty crusty to give an AC of 0. And it seems like it should poison you instead of granting immunity to poison. +1 to Constitution?....whatever. Kinda makes me sick, which I believe is a minus to Constitution.

I can believe the "Protection from Good" part, though.

And I also can respect that maybe you're playing an evil Jeffrey Dahmer sociopath type.

thanks for trying to understand but you leave your roleplaying at the door when you make a kensai->thief

mostly . . .

no, this one is all about the power

ah - good old shadowkeeper - it does have the save and MR bonuses as well - that's pretty strong and apparently it 'emits the stench of bitter death'

aerie might not like that

actually the upgraded corthala family armour looks good too if i can RP valygar out of it

True, I guess. I haven't ever played such a character. Come to think of it, I've been vanilla both times through the saga. Paladin first time (never got to finish ToB because my motherboard melted down), and just a "vanilla" fighter this time (loved the pally, but I'm more neutral good as a roleplayer).

Anyway, that is sweet that you have such a powerful item. Still smells stinky to me.

It seems to me that Aerie, and most of the good and several neutral characters as well (Jahiera comes immediately to mind, and even Jan does, to me) wouldn't want to travel with someone in a getup like that. I actually wonder why most of them don't leave your party immediately when you start collecting the... components... to that.

Indeed. I suppose the developers and programmers didn't take the time to really "flesh" out (ouch) alot of stuff that would make the game even cooler. I don't blame them I guess. Hell, they could still be writing this game if they wanted to make it the best it could be. I can say (should I be proud of this?) that I've fallen to sleep at night pondering ways to improve the game. I guess all of us who have played it for any amount of time have done this.
Anyway, enough thread drift.... I've got some Mind Flayers to cut into little pieces. Golodon the Unmanned would be proud. I think.

yeh - i can't quite bring myself to do it with this pair - i've decided that following my completing the planar sphere quest valygar has given it all up to be a farmer and has donated me his armour but taken his katana to turn it into a ploughshare

so i shall upgrade his armour instead - not too shabby

and i shall work out an appropriately evil character in the meantime

EDIT: ok, netural evil gnome cleric/thief - he's an old character idea that i never played - worshipper of some 'genuine' (PnP DnD) evil gnome god who's name i forget but had one feature that his followers collect steal and kill for gems and precious metals to sacrfice - it'll be nice to have a hobby . . .

plus i think korgan and a yoshimo dualled to fighter

sometimes i think that i think about this game a little too much . . .

If you want to roleplay Valygar out of his armour, murder him. Or let him be "accidentally" killed. Or turn him in to the cowlies after opening the sphere.

I would think Korgan would be the type to even WEAR that kind of armor. A truly twisted individual... gotta love it.

I can dig the idea of Valygar wanting to become a farmer. Seems to fit right in. I could also see, if it was me, thinking, "man, this cat is wearing human SKIN! I better give him my armor when I leave his party so as to keep myself in good stead with this lunatic.."

Armen, I think we ALL think we think about this game too much. That's why it RULES!
