The cheesiest ways are:

1)If you have a Berserker, use Rage and charge him with a +4 weapon.

2)Use a protection from Undead Scroll and whack him with a +4 weapon

3)there is a spoilerish way to do it if you attack him after chapter 4.

Dollars to donuts says that mitchperry is indeed talking about a Pit Fiend.

That just has "Pit Fiend" written all over it. Sorry, Lord, Krunchy, and ZFR, but it appears you jumped to the wrong conclusion, so it's probably best to edit your posts to remove answers to questions that mitch hasn't asked....before mitch remembers where he wrote down Ironworks's URL.

mitchperry: To beat a Pit Fiend, you can either
A) Take all your best Warrior types, give them the best weapons you've got (I think they need to be of at least +3 enchantment to hit a Pit Fiend, but I could be wrong on this), Haste them all, and basically hit the creature with everything you've got, except Fire. Most Demons are immune to Fire damage, to the point where using it on them will actually heal them somewhat.
B) Cast Protection from Evil on everyone in the Pit Fiend's sight range: This renders them invisible to Demons (even though Demons can see right through regular Invisibility)
C) Walk away and let the duration of the summoning spell expire--who needs the aggravation of fighting a Pit Fiend when you don't even get any EXP for killing it?

Youre probably right again SIx. Stupid me. Deleted my last post.

It's just that it is so strange. I can understand a party having problems defeating pit fiends, but those partys would usually have much bigger problems defeating liches.

Use prot from evil mitch (the cleric spell prot from evil 10' radius).

+3 is the requirement to hit a Pit Fiend, Six.

Oh, and Six, one does get experience if one has installed the Improved Pit Fiends portion of the tactics mod. But they still can't see Protected From Evil people, so if you have someone with true sight, and enough warriors with +3 weapons, you can just thwack away for experience, they'll even gate in more for you. (Learned this while trying to eradicate Pit Fiends so I wouldn't have to worry about where the big lug was when I rested)

Neo - do you know how long the dang things keep gating in freinds? I was in a certain underground area and everytime I got one near death they would gate in another (and they usually immedatiately cast Improved Invisibility - only when there were near death did they stay visibile). It took me 2 hours to get my part from a certain puzzle area to a large open area b/c I do not have a cleric in my party and 4 members could not have protection from evil. I got so frustrated, I eventually just hasted the other four and made a run for it...I lost one member, but had my PC go back and get her stuff since he had PfE. Also, I am not sure what they do to cause 999 points of damage, but it ain't fun! LOL
