Return to the Silver Dragon

I need some help. I conquered the drow and got the (real) eggs but now I can't return them to the silver dragon again. I can't enter the dark cave again because it is too dark. I have the Sun Gem still (is this the same as the Light Gem I read about?). Do I have to do something else before I can return to Andalon. I am afraid I did something really dumb like losing the only key to returning to the dragon so I can move on. If I did something irreversible and can't get around starting Chapter 5 over I would appreciate the appropriate cheat. I have thus far not used any cheats but if it means I'm hopelessly stuck I will restort to it. Thanks much.

IIRC, the item you need is called the Light Gem. It's CLUAConsole code is MISC9R.

To use the CLUA:

1. Open your Baldurs Gate 2 Directory
2. Copy and make a backup of the file ''baldur.ini''
3. Edit the origional file ''baldur.ini'' with notepad
4. In this file you will see a ''[Program Options]'' heading.
5. Enter a new line under the heading and type or cpy in ''Debug Mode=1''
6. Start up the game and while playing press [Ctrl] + [Space] at the same time. This will bring up a console where you can type stuff into.

Type CLUAConsole:CreateItem("MISC9R") and press enter. It doesn't need to be in all caps.

Morally, I have no real problems with hacking in another Light Gem (tangent: The Sun Gem you mention is from the Temple Ruins, and probably wouldn't work here), since if this were real life, you could just stand at the entrance to her cave and shout, "Hey, Adalon! It's me, Veldrin! Remember me? We've got your eggs but we can't see a damn thing! The Ust Natha Bazaar didn't have any torches!" and she'd come out to meet you.

So, go through the steps that Pyrenk outlined, kick yourself in the head, and write "I will not forget where I put plot-essential quest items" 50 times, in the User section of your Journal.

Is he at least allowed to use cut&paste?
Or does that not work in the Journal?

The point of writing it 50 times is that it sticks. C+P doesn't exactly help your memory well, especially after 50 times
