okay, having played BG2 more times than you can find ways to skin a cat, i've decided to ask you, the experts of the game and members of the forum to tell me which character to play through the game as. You guys choose the race, class, alignment and spell list if necessary etc....i would like the most original character you guess can think of and i'll play it

I'm doing this because recently im getting to the character creation screen and can't think of owt to play as so you guys pick for me.

Thanx, ~Dirznolu Ousghym~

Welcome to Ironworks
I think it would be good if you tell us with wich characters you did play through the game. It would be a lot easier.

I recommend a Sorcerer. You need to know their spell system very detailed so check out Dundee Slaytern`s Guide for Sorcerers.

I've played through the game quite a few times, i've played as most races (apart from half-orcs, i'm not that ugly), and I can say that my current BGII character is probably the best I've ever played as. He's a elven fighter/mage. Elven because humans are SO 1340s, and fighter/mage because there's nothing better than being able to wield two katanas, whilst casting Abi Dalzim's Horrid Wilting on a random commoner. Oh, and for alignment, it has to be chaotic good.

hmm.....dun it as all"pure" classes, Fighter, Thief, Mage, Cleric, Barbarian, Monk, Bard, Ranger, Paladin, Sorcerer, Druid, plus all Thief, Ranger and Bard sub classes, fighter/mage, kensai/mage, mainly as elf but halfling 4 rogue and gnome for mage and human for dual classed charcters.

What you should try, is to make a theme party. Like, I remember some time back, Nerull (I think it was him) had an idea to go through the game with a Knight-party. Then you actually have to roleplay the game, and try to only make decisions a real knight would make. Some NPC-combinations can be very entertaining as well.
Theme parties can often give you brand new aspects of the game. They can be alot fun.

Arrow

Fun, challenging idea: stealth party.
PC -> Ranger/Cleric
Valygar
Minsc
Jan
Nalia
Imoen

Keep the ranger/cleric and Minsc in light armour. Everyone can hide, but not so much tanking, more interesting tactics. I played for awhile with this group before a deadly bug crippled me. It was very fun though.

Try an all mage party...for the pc, use a mage with specialty in Edwin's opposing school (I forgot what Eddy is), Jan, Imoen, Nalia, Aerie, and Eddy. 6 mages would do quite well, although if somebody gets near them when they have no protections up...

Items (namely powerful scrolls) would be a hassle...try a Sorc if you want to be able to choose from all available spells. To make it more interesting, use a Wild Mage as a pc. Nothing like summoning a cow onto a dragon.

Yep, it was me. Went with Keldorn, Mazzy, Anomen, Nalia, and Imoen, and the PC a Cavalier. We pretty much annihilated anything in our path, even with no pickpocketing or stealing. You'd be surprised how much harder the game is without pickpocketing a few choice people in the city.

Actually, come to think about it, I did slip out of role in some ways. I mean, I did the Imoen romance, after all!

Theme parties are a nice way to spice up the game. I downloaded the Oversight mod, and they have the Holy Liberator kit (Chaotic Good version of a Paladin). Planning to play it, with a smaller party (pretty much the people right out of the dungeon less Yoshimo + Jan). Should be fun playing the Robin Hood type!

First off, Welcome to the Ironsworks Dirznolu

My two most prefered choices to go through the game with is pure class Kensai and a mage/theif who both become very powerful later on in the game. For the alignment, just choose what you fele like playing. Feel like protecting the greater good be Lawful Good or just a blood thirsty arse be Chaotic Evil

Edwin's a conjurer, I should know because I'm his son. I think the opposite is abjuration, though I'm not sure.
