Ok. Im going through the game my fourth time, and this time I feel Like doing it with an all spellcasting party. Well I guess true scorcer or mages (with the exception of a cleric mage). I see that battles with magic resilaint combatents will be highly interseting. (I'll have to use lower resistance for once!) Im sure this has been done before, but how far do you think I'll get before I realize the sword is mightier than the....umm.... pointy thing that makes words?

nah, you get 5 skelaton warriors it's usually enough to hold off long enough to unleash a overpowering barrage of spells. once you get adhw nothing will last all that long and once you have timestop nothing will stand up to you.

I doubt youll have any troubles with an all spellcasting party. Remember to use lots of summons with the magic res. enemies, otherwise you would have to spend a few rounds casting the lower resistance spells, while the enemie(s) hack away at you. think of a drow war party for instance, they all have, what, 65% magic res., meaning youde have to cast about 2 lower magic resistance spells on EACH of them to truly do some damage. With summons, summon a few skeleton warriors and an earth elemental to knock'em out. On creatures like Dragons or magic resistant demons you should perhaps summon one or two creatures to distract it in melee while other spell casters lower his/her/its resistance, then cast away with like half the party and keep summoning with the other half so that the creature wont take youre spellcasters into melee. if that does happen though, cast all youre protections and perhaps tensers tranformation so you wont die right away. An all spellcaster party can kick the living crap out of an all fighter party, the spellcaster party needs "micro managing" though...

i know you didnt ask for any strategies, i just thought id post this in anyway, just to keep on the spellcasters side. i like fighters, but wizards and clerics are my favorites.

it wont be too hard, just make sure u have lots of good summons (animate dead, and best of all, mordakenians sword!!!) and adhw, maybe fireballs and cloudkills, and deffinitly hold spells. what i would do, would be to make one a mage/cleric, on a sorcerer, one a necromancer, one a conjurer, a evoker, and depending on how many other party members u want make them specialty with maybe another mage or wild mage. if you keep speciality mages it will be easier because they can learn more, and since ull have a all magic party you can make as any as you want

One sorceror is enough, 6 of them would be overkill =)

you can take an all mage party with npcs, Nalia, imoen, jan, aerie, and the pc is five, 2 pcs is a full six person party, i'd suggest a sorc. as the pc and a wild mage as the 2nd.

ps
at lower levels web and spider spawn is very effective
