Remember back to bg1, remember the fat spider chick in the spider colony in cloakwood forest, you ask her how she got that way and she says that her former love "Jon Icarus" turned her that way with magic, is this Jon Irenicus from BG2, did the black isle people intend to call the big bad guy in their next game Jon Icarus, and then change it? just a thought

Similar names, but I don't think they are the same characters. IIRC, she said something about him loving her(?) and I think that's not very Irenicus-like.

However, it is Joneleth-like, but he loved Ellesime, and he lived in Suldanesselar, which is rather far.
I don't think it is him, either.

I seem to recall that it was meant to be the same person and that the name was changed deliberately (although I can't remember why - maybe Icarus is a name that is too well known). Given Jonny's annoying habit of abduction and experimentation anything is possible. I see the problem with love, but I think thats a matter of interpretation. Reilev was Jon's... what? What about the other experiments - they were subservient, but respectful of Jon. The only one of his creations that turned against him was Ellesime's clone.

The reuse of names is nothing new - Sendai of Amn, anyone?

I played through ToB before finding her. I then spent a few minutes trying to make her into drow, with little sucsess.

Just a pointer, this Jon Icarus turned her that way via magic. Were it really Jonny boy, i think he would be quite capable of doing that. However, i dont think is Irenicus either.

Absolutely! One of the few really decent voices in BG2, to be honest.
The voice actor is David Warner, btw. A list of all of his film/game/tv series-work can be found here. He also played a few times in Star Trek: TNG and Thomas Eckhardt in Twin Peaks. Especially the last one came as a pleasant surprise to me... I never saw Twin Peaks until last year, and I recognized the voice from miles away.
