After the Windspear Hills quest, I took a journey down to Watchers Keep. As I got to the second level of the Keep, I decided to run for my life. My party is around level 10, and so my question is; Is it realistic to do WK at level 10 or is it just me beeing a sissy?

I'm currently doing watchers keep and I'm level 14, but I always seem to have problems with those Adamantine golems, so I havn't reached 2nd level yet... damn golems....

actually it is advisable to journey the " keep " when youre at least level 14 and well equiped with good weapons and armors. i ussually venture the world of amn with only 2 or 3 npc's to have more xp points. when you have fnished the underworld (with 3 npc's +your pc ) youll have a campany of good levels).

Some of the best items do drop indeed there, but remember this - the Watcher's Keep came with ToB, which generally presumes that you have a char who has gone already through the BG2 once, i.e. is of adequate level. Lvl 10 is too low, and it gets worse with each floor. Rather, go back, do quests, things and stuff, and return when your team has higher level(s). I.e. when you return from the Underdark and are headed after a... thingie... for the elves. If you have done all the quests and such before that, you should have then better levels under your belt for Watcher's Keep, and it will be easier.

IMO, going to watchers keep at a low level is pretty silly. like everybody has mentioned, you should atleast be of level 14 or 15.
Also the equipment is pretty crucial too. But when i go to WK, i mainly finish SoA and enter it in ToB..

noted you having trouble with adamantine golems s p o i l e r they usually get blocked in a door or passage. just let the geesan bow with no arrows do it's work (imeon in my case) while the rest of the party boil the billy and have a cup of rosey lee. Or if ya must, get ya tank to chip in with the flail of ages it will slow the golem down. no longer a problem!

Actually, the difficulty of Watcher's Keep adjustes after your level. Lvl 10 is perhaps a it too low, though.

Quote:
1) BEFORE enting the Keep itself, Save your game. Then go beat the first level. If you did NOT find a Bastard Sword whose name begins with an F, you are in fact too low-level: The game weakens itself for lower-level parties, and it this case it simply does not create the creature that drops that sword. The sword in question is one that you do not want to miss, so Reload your Save and come back when you've gained a couple of levels. 2) Go into the Keep and fight some stuff. Are you having fun? If not, get out of there and come back later. [EDIT:] Yay! Gold Dragon! And I thought I was still well in the Anubis range. Still, not as cool as Waldorf & Statler, but then what is? ![]() [ 11-15-2002, 07:04 PM: Message edited by: SixOfSpades ]

- - - - - - - the difficulty in soa's wathcers keep is nothng compare to tob and i was on lvl 19 20 21 and 18 at my first soa try and the last bttle on the bottom floor. if you cant make it past the first floor your not in good shape and u need someone that has at least a plus 5 weapon (carsomyer from firkragg) so i would do it ater you arise from drow city!!!
