Okay i need help, I'm up to the final fight with irenicus down in hell, I've killed the four demons easily, but when it comes to that damn mage i Just cannot kill him is there any good strategies to destroying this guy?? Im a level 12/13 fighter/mage respectivly, my party is made up of Minsc, Jaheira, Imoen, Mazzy and Aerie, any help will be welcome

Ok, first thing you need to do is patch your game, there was a bug that made it impossible to kill irenicus (kangaxx too) patching it should get rid of that. BTW, your party is abysmally low-level judging by your PC's level.
Now, Irenicus... it's been ages since I killed him last but ill try to help...

He starts as the slayer, so he is going to be regenerating heaps of hit points (I think it's 1 hp per second (could be wrong)) I'm pretty sure he has a spell trigger/contingency set up as well (again, I could be wrong) whatever he does with those, just breach/ruby ray of reversal it away. Now because he is regenerating, you want to kill him fast, have your fighters go and smack him up a bit while your mages cast Abi-Dalzims... wait a sec, low level... OK, scrub that... just cast as many spells as you can at him, and hope you get lucky... really, you are much too low level to be fighting Irenicus. Then when he changes to a mage... breach + bashing him is probably your best bet. You wont be able to dispel his spell shield, so you'll have to rely on killing him with weapons. Good luck, you'll need lots of it.

is it me or was irenicus painfully easy to beat. i managed to beat him not even using all of my party! did anyone else find him disapointngly easy- it was one hell of a letdown at the end, when irenicus dies like a pansy... but all is good! i had tdd installed

well the battle at the tree of life was a joke, i mean i beat it easily on my first try. As for the poster, when you kill off all the fiends and he starts teleporting around the room take time heal yourself and your party members, and don't forget your knockdown spells, most noteably ruby ray of reversal, wharding whip, and pierce shield.

Tips:

1) Do not forget to use summons.
2) Multiple Khelben's Warding Whip(4-5) can really mess up his spellcasting.
3) 3 Lower Resistances
4) Ray of Enfeeblement, Melf's Acid Arrows, Greater Malison, Doom, etc... ...
5) 2 Ruby Rays of Reversal first.
6) Mass Healing
7) Level 7 Priest spell, Regeneration
8) Level 4 Priest spell, Protection from Evil 10' Radius

Just thought i should point this out, no RROR from this guy, no Warding whip either, of 7th level priest spells, or just about any of those things mentioined.

He has Imoen though, although Aerie most likely does not have level 7 Cleric spells. A more comprehensive list of his party's levels will help me more in thinking of ways to beat Jonny.

tree of life was even easier- edwin versus jon.... edwin comprihensively wins...

the other battle was far too easy too..

What are the lvls of the other party-members ??..
i dont think lvl 12/13 is very low for a dual-class, after all ..
a cleric/mage was maxed out at 14/13 in SoA i think ...
