a big problem

when i havent played BG2 for a while i remove the CD

but when i try to play it again the computer claims i havent installed it please help this is really annoying.

Hmmm...do you reinstall the game after the message pops up?

You can try to put the CD in while you're starting (so that the CD doesn't start with auto-run). Then open the game with the icon on your desktop.

If it isn't that you can try to reinstall (store your save games somewhere else first!).

That's all I can think of now maybe you can be more specific (like things you tried)

i reinstall it every time but every time im scared of losing my saves where else can i save it and how can i solve the original problem

Copy your saves folder to a CDRW or Zip Disc.

You can just copy the folder to another place on your hard disk.

Doesn't starting the game with this icon on your desktop work (not the autorun from the CD)?

i dont know that much about computers so any advice would be helpful

have you installed the latest official patch ?

There is a bug in SOA (also in TOB) that lets registry checkers (such as nortons utilities) trash your BG][ registry entries - then when you try and run the game, you get the 'not installed' errors.
