DsotSC Question

I am about to start DSotSC when I get home, but there is a problem. My Bro is currently playing through BG1 again, so the question is, can I install and start DsoTSC without effecting his game, that he will still be playing???

Ok, so no1 replied, and I installed it when I got home. (Up to FAI!!)

But when my bro loads his game,it still runs, but now he has trolls and orcs...(DS improvements???)

The question: will he have new areas, spells, characters??

Anyway, this may have changed since I last read it, but according to a post i read by Ken at TeamBG that unless you START your game AFTER DSOTSC, you won't get access to the new spells, new items or new NPCs. Since YOU started your game after DSOTSC was installed, you should be okay. Your brother may be hosed. I am not sure about the new areas, but I think those may be blocked as well for your brother, as I believe several of the new npcs are the triggers for those areas appearing.

Again, this is based on an old thread I read over on the OLD interplay forums and all of this may have changed with the latest version of DSOTSC. Let me know how this turns out.

And yes, I believe the trolls and orcs are DS improvements - those are probably going to be in place since I believe those are tied directly to the AREA files and those would have been modified with the DSOTSC installation.

Ok, its cocked up somewhere.

I am playing DS, and I installed it whilst my brother was playing normal BG:TOTSC.

The problem arises, as not only does he get to fight trolls and orcs (dark side improvements), he now can get the items in Dark Side. Why is this? He just got the Club+4...which is a dark side weapon.

Surely he needs to start again to get these bonus'?? Or will he just miss out on the areas and the quests???

Either way, its sorta ruined his game...

Sorry, Lav ... the mere fact that your brother was actually able to get one of the DSOTSC items despite the info (apparently outdated) that i got off the teambg website seems to put that info (or at least part of it) into question. It appears that he is now permanently tied to playing the DSOTSC version of the game, in some form. Wish I could help more.

He's nearly at the end...hes finished it before...as long as he doesnt do the quests...he should be ok.
