I allways thought that chaotic commands protected you not only from the mind-flayer's psionic blasts, but also from the intel-drain ....
Though viconia didnt agree on that when she fought them .. heck, she didnt say anything but " ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" after that

So ... is this a bug, and if not .. what do i do to protect myself from the intel. drainage, better plumming ??

P.s. if this is a bug ... that baldurdash fixpack is causing me more problems than before i even had any fixes

thx for any replies

There's no way to avoid being drained of intelligence. Just try using missle weapons and spells to take illithids out.

The illithid attack has a +2 "enchantment"; you could try using Mantle, Improved Mantle, or Absolute Immunity (at least on your mages). Otherwise, do as Helspanth says--drink potions of genius.

Thx all

But i have another question
My skeleton warriors are falling to the ground after 2 /3
illithid-hits. Im pretty sure i liked them so much last time, because their minds werent there to be sucked out, and therefore were basically immune to illithids.

Am i (again) remembering wrong ?

How' bout mordekainens sword ?

Lol, i dont remember a thing, too much time in the "real-life" which has been mentioned a few times allready i guess ... it's dangerous i think

The illithids don't care if it has a brain or not. the weapon has a special effect of draining 5 pts or so of intelligence with each hit, no save, unaffected by MR. if a creature has intelligence less than what is the minimum required by that race, he/she/it dies. Period. because this death is caused by the world not allowing an impossible creature to exist, the illithid (or mage with Shapechange) gets no points for killing something, because the GAME killed it. thus, gnomes die at 3 INT, half-orcs at 0, everyone else at 2. sorry.

So, potions of genius work well, but bows and arrow work better.

illithids tend to have low levels so death spell works reasonably well...

Sunnis, prince of earth elementals had a little chat with 'em ....
Who cares about a little less intelligence, he knows how to rock the world

The globe of blades/ blade barrier -combo is nice too ... one save failed = instant illithid spray-party

Thx for all the replies
