I've just decided to stick with a skald and I was wondering how good they are at melee. He's aleady managed to do 40 damage in one hit against that orge mage at the beggining of the game. I'm also duel wielding a kantana and a long sword and will eventually get Daystar and Celestial fury. Will this make his a usable fighter?. Also if I want to cast spells and still wear armour do I have to get that armour you get that is related to the hier'Darlis quest?.

Unfortunately until late in the game when you get the bladesinger chain thats the only armour you can wear to get your AC down. I dont duel wield with my skald but he wields my flail of ages + 5 with some skill and panache hehe

I feel Blades are much better choices to solo with if you have ToB involved. They can dualwield very well.

Hi Warby,
You can get the Melodic Chain +3 pretty early ... I've done that quest as the first thing out of Irenicus' dungeon. It's not the only armour that allows casting, but it's the earliest. (If you do an evil deed in Trademeet you can get the same type of armour, but unenchanted. I think that someone who attacks you as part of Jahera's Harper Saga will also drop this kind of armour, but only +2. If you join with the "vitality challenged" guild you'll eventually get a suit of the same stuff, this time +1 I think.) As to dual-wielding, DO NOT GO THERE! You aren't a Blade, so you can't put 3 *s in Two Weapon Style, so you'll always be penalized at least -2 in your main hand and -6 in your off hand. Instead take Crossbows (or some other kind of bow), Two-Handed Swords, Two-Handed Weapon Style and some other kind of two-handed weapon (spear, halberd, quarterstaff). You'll have an attack with a weapon that allows you to stand behind a summon or a defensive tank and you'll get double Critical Hits. Since your THAC0 stinks initially, the extra Critical Hits will help you a lot. Alternately take a star in Single Weapon Style and keep using either Daystar or Celestial Fury: again double Critical Hits, but also -1 AC. -- Nifft |

Thanks. I might go with the waveblade when I get it. I might have to start again. I'm already out of the dungeon. I managed to get 18 in dex str and con and 17 in cha with this guy. I'll see if I can do it again. In the meantime I'll use spears and bows. Thanks
