I seem to have misplaced my familliar, a rabbit. I have the beta TOB patch installed. I don't remember it dying. When I try the Find Familliar spell again the game says a familliar has already been summoned. Does this mean my familliar is still alive? If it was killed I expect the game would let me summon another. The manual says you can only have one familliar at a time. Is there any way using Shadowkeeper or such I can find where it its?

I'm confused. Please explain to me again how peace and forgiveness will help me to crush my enemies and make them suffer.

Have you checked your pack?

He is not in my pack. He has been gone for several game days and several map changes. I apparently lost him while in the firegiant stronghold where I was using him to search for traps. Since the stronghold I have gone to Watcher's Keep. But since I can't summon another familliar I don't think he is dead.

The "lost familiar" bug was supposed to have been addressed with ToB, but maybe you have a glitch and walked off a map with your familiar not in your pack and he got left behind (poor thing!). Try going back to the place/s where you think you left him.

Also, I'd suggest you download the final ToB patch at www.bioware.com, this one is no longer a beta.

I think I know what happened! When Cespenar upgrades things for you he gives them back to the PC. If the PC has no room in his backpack something gets bumped. If it is the familliar that gets bumped you do not get the "backpack is full" warning because the familliar is not really an item. But since he hasn't been properly released from the backpack the familliar is not really a character so when you leave the pocket plane you don't get the "You must gather your party before venturing forth" warning either. He is just an object laying on the ground so if you don't pick him up in a day or so he goes away.

I had a problem where my familiar got stuck in the Irenicus dream plane during one of the sequences. I got him back when Irenicus was stealing my soul and I went back to the dream plane. I snatched him up and put him back in my pack. Weird huh?

I just did an experiment. I filled my backpack, with my familliar in the upper left corner. Then I had Cespenar make me something. Sure enough my PC got the new item and my familliar got bumped to the ground. He looked like a little leather bag on the ground. I could pick him up like an ordinary object, which I did!
I believe the mystery is solved.
