...Sarevok seems to have some undocumented special abilities? I'm currently using him as my main tank. He's equipped with the Silver Sword and uses it quite well, might I add... Anyhow, every so often, he does like 200 hitpoints of damage in one blow to an opponent. I think, IIRC, that it is called the "Deathbringer assault". Does anyone have any idea what the hell this is? It isn't listed anywhere in his character sheet and he doesn't have any special abilities set-up as he's only 19th level. Or do I have it all wrong and this is some sort of special ability of the Silver (vorpal) sword? The other weird part is that when this "Deathbringer Assault" attack occurs, there is a huge flash of fire when Sarevok hits the opponent with this bizzare assault.

Any ideas?

I read somewhere (a review of ToB) that Sarevok has a special ability called "smite". I thought this was one of the new 'special' high level abilities, but maybe I am wrong and it is a special ability that only Sarevok gets? It says that with "smite" he does 'critical' hit damage and causes the opponent to fall backwards with the mite of the blow....could this be it?

Yeah, I have noticed that, as well. In fact, he always says "DIE", before doing it, and usually, the creature he is playing with at the time listens.
And the added bonus of having the Silver Sword is fun for him. Many little instant death ghosts arise from his smiting.

Moridin,

I'm not certain, but I don't think it's the same thing. I've never seen him knock an opponent backwards, as they always just explode into chunks of meat (200+HP damage in one blow). The other thing is that the dialogue box calls it "Deathbringer Assault", IIRC. Perhaps their interrelated, but I don't really know...

You're right though Larry...he does say "Die!" right before it happens. I never really put those two things together! It seems totally random...that's the weird part. I was planning on dropping Sarevok after a short while for Valgyar...but I don't think I can. I think that he's the best fighter in the game now...he's officially displaced Korgan in my book.

So that's what causes Daethbringer Assault! Couldn't figure it out before. Have you noticed any other NPCs having fancy abilities? Oh, and btw, smite is just a fighter ability, not a special one for Sarveok.

They've also mentioned his Deathbringer ability in the Biography section of the Character Info page.

I knew about the Deathbringer special ability, I thought it only happened on a critical hit. Give him Critical strike and he says "die" for the entire round.

Speaking of special abilities, has anyone tried the Baldurdash patch that enables the PC to gain a new ability after each pocket plane test? I was trying to figure out what they were using Infinity Explorer, but couldn't find them.

Ahhh...I guess I didn't associate the Deathbringer assault with a critical strike. Are you sure that's the case? He's had critical strikes before that just resulted in the normal "40ish" HP of damage...

in his Bio, it says that Sarevok has learned how to kill people with one hit in combat. i can only assume that the Deathbringer Assault is the beautiful byproduct of that. only think it hasnt killed is Dragon in WK, but it got him to near death. so i hope that explains it for you!
Helpful Yakman!

Note: it is NOT a critical hit, its an entirely different ability all together.
