Post for a friend:

He has installed ToB and loads a saved game before the final battle with Irenicus. Does the final battle, it ends and he can't start ToB. Any ideas?

BUMP!
Can u not just continue into throneob after killing Irenicus? When i try it, using a save from hell before using the tears, then kill him, i am getting booted out of the game. is that supposed to happen? do you have to use a pre-hell saved game from bg2, leave suldessenwhatsitsface, then acces the map? c'mon, i'm practically beggin', here, HELP. Been so busy, had the game for 2 weeks before i even opened it, have pity on the pathetic here.

Hmmm...I also loaded up a game which had my party in hell, but prior to using the tears on the door and the battle with Irenicus. I used the tears, got the bonuses, killed Irenicus, and the game then played the end movies and went seamlessly into ToB. I'm not sure what the problem might be...it is supposed to be a seamless transition from SoA to ToB.

Reeka...here's a couple questions/comments for you:
1. Is your friend running Windows 2000? There have been lots of problems reported with ToB on Windows 2000 with Service pack 2(?) installed. A beta patch has been posted at the Bioware site.

2. Has he installed any of Kevin Dorner's Baldurdash patches or any other 3rd party patches/fixes/extras to SoA? Those are also causing havoc with many folks. If he's installed a Baldurdash item, he can go to Dorner's site and get an uninstaller. He'll then have to load ToB again, which will result in doing a clean install of both SoA and ToB (can't uninstall one without the other). Save those "save games" folders somewhere safe before uninstalling!

Those are the main bugs that were reported to my knowledge. Mostly folks who were screwing around with custom kits and alterations to the game were having problems. Most of them had to do a complete uninstall and clean reinstall.

P.S. - There have also been some unexplained errors on Windows ME. Game seems to run best on Windows 98 or Win98 SE.

Hope that helps!

Hi Reeka

I don't think you can go straight to ToB from the final battle. When I finished BGII there was a final save in my save game list (can't remember what the exact name was but it was something like 'last save' or 'final save' or 'end game') to start ToB with this party you have to start ToB and then 'import' a saved BGII game...this will be that 'last' save game.

This is at least how I did it....hope it helps

Actually, you can play straight through Moridin. I specifically saved a game before using the Tears on the door and beginning the last battle. I did this because I wanted the bonuses you get from using the Tears to carry over to ToB. If you play straight through like I did (per the Black Isle designers on their boards) then you will continue with the Tears of Bhaal bonuses (10%MR, +1WIS, Immune to normal weapons, etc.). If you import the systems prompted "Final Save", then you will bypass those bonuses...which I didn't want to do.

This worked fine for me. The only problem was that I had to replay the battle with Irenicus and his demon cronies.
