EDIT: Since we're basically discussing one particular mod anyway, and as I'm not really looking for other mod recommendations at this point, I might as well change the title of the topic altogether.
![]() Original post: I've decided to play through Baldurs Gate 2 once more (for the first time in a year I think), and I'm looking for recommendations on which mods to install, to create something of an 'ultimate BG experience'. I like the sound of this one in particular: http://www.spellholdstudios.net/bp-bgt-dsotsc/ A while back these seperate components were still rather buggy (I've finished DSotSC several times, gave BGT a shot as well, yet had to give up due to some map loading errors), but I was wondering if anyone has given this one a try, sharing some thoughts regarding bugs mostly. Also, how 'ultimate' is this package? Can it be combined with several smaller mods? And does anyone know how good some of the complete conversion mods are, like Return to Trademeet or Glory of Istar? (getting my information from http://modlist.pocketplane.net/index.php now, the site Dundee referred to in the FAQ) Thanks in advance. On a related note, all mirrors for Northern Side of the Sword Coast (Big Picture + BGT + DSotSC + extras) seem to be dead right now.

I'm a bit 'in the same boat', and was considering Return to Trademeet, as it seems to be very comprehensive, and as far as I can tell from the Spellhold Studios forum, practically bug-free. I'm aware that an English updated version (1.4) is due in a couple of months, but the tweaks from the current version (1.3) seem to be minor. I'd be pleased to hear others' experience with Return to Trademeet.

I'm downloading Return to Trademeet right now. Not sure if I'll start playing today or not, but if I do, I'll try to share some of my experiences.

what do you want in particular? game enhancing, plot enhancing combat enhancing... their are so many.
But for a real challenge, install the Tactics mod; and if you your main char is a mage, Spell 50 as well. these can be found at Pocketplane.net |

Not interested in improved battles; don't really have the patience required for those.

pocketplane does indeed have some good stuff. IIRC, DTotSC and NSotC are being updated for compatibility with BGT-weidu, and should be up soon if they aren't already.
weidu.org features a number of mods. Solaufien and Valen are both well written but typical Weimer- very (excessively) high powered, and very high powered enemy encounters to match them up. Ease of Use had a number of nice things, and some tweak/cheat things you may appreciate. Tactics is full of rediculously hard encounters. Item Upgrade/Underrepresented Items bring in some more powerful items, and the former breathes in life to your old stuff. Chosenofmystra.net also features some good NPC mods, though not on the level of Kelsey or Keto- Saerileth, Yasraena, Kindrek, Tsujatha, etc. Vlad has NEJ (v2 right now I think), which is somewhat of a total conversion without actually being a total conversion. Brings in substantial amounts of Icewind Dale as well as original content. gibberlings3.net also has some fun stuff. A few extra tweaks are available at spellhold studios- I'm a big fan of One Pixel Productions in particular. |

Grojlach,
Just by way of follow up. I've pressed ahead now with Return to Trademeet, and am very impressed with the game. It's pretty tough for a level 8-ish party, which ever way you turn (in version 1.3, you'll be up against groups of challenging enemies such as half a dozen bone golems, or ten anhkegs) however despite my over-relience on summons, I've also found it pretty balanced. I'd say tougher than the 'standard' game, not as tough as some of the Tactics fights. |
