How do I not get arrested after Saerk?

Im choosing to kill him, after I clean house I get arrested and killed by some wizards. Can I do this without that outcome? Or which part specifically is triggering that that I should avoid. Seems dumb to let me have that option but not being able to complete it. thx.

This is to do with lifting Jaheira's curse if I recall correctly? I'm not sure if you're being attacked by Wizards inside the house or on the streets.

The wizards are beatable with a lowish level party (I once buffed Yoshimo and sent him in with some stolen arrows alone), however if you're looking for an alternative and less risky route, you might want to go to the Government building and ask about wizards. Someone will eventually put a proposal to you.

If it's on the streets, it's most likely due to one of two things ...

(a.) You're casting magical spells in the streets. You should have been warned not to do this by some wizards who beamed in the last time you did this. To rectify this problem see hint below (Lightweight spoiler ... click and drag over area below, or hit Ctrl-A to highlight hint)

You might want to go to the Government building and ask about wizards and how come some wizards can cast spells while others can't - you might ask yourself "Is there a branch of government that deals with this?" Someone will eventually put a proposal to you.

(b.) Your reputation is shockingly bad. Once you get down to the 'very evil' end of the spectrum, there's a good chance that you'll start having fights in the streets of Athkatla with wizards and paladins. Reputation can be improved by donating gold to temples (refer to the manual) and performing 'good' duties.

I guess I should have clarified a bit more, Im at rep 11 or so, lawful evil, i just went to kill that guy from the anomen quest in the bridge district. After killing him and his daughter and cleaning house and killing all the guards (i also got rid of the chef and the butler I think which dropped me down to like rep of 5, which is fine. But is that what made me get attacked as soon as I left the house?

Or was it kiling the Saerk (sp?) guy who supposedly killed anomen's sister what did it? How can I do the anomen quest evil without getting killed afterwords, if i attack the wizards im assuming more will ocme because im using magic outside.

I think I killed Saerk once and I don't remember any wizards coming after me.

There are a few possibilities here.

- You cast a mage spell while outside the house which would have brought some coweled wizards. *solution - don't cast mage spells outside*

- Your reputation is so low that some law enforcers come and try and take you down ( which has a random chance of happening and the chance gets higher as your rep gets lower ). I think 5 is low enough for this to happen, but its pretty rare. *solution - reload, or kill them*

- I'ts part of the storyline for killing Saerk and you will have to deal with the wizards or not kill Saerk ( I have never heard of this though ). *solution - kill them, or run out of the map real fast*

- You have a mod installed that adds some extra storyline for Anomen's quest. *solution - no idea*

It would help to know what the wizards say when they arrest you.

I definitly didnt cast any magic and no mods installed, Im thinking offing the chef and butler that dropped me from 11 to 5 rep did it, but ti seems somewhat silly, just because you have a low rep. I dont remember exactly what they said but it was definitely because of what I did inside (killing everybody). It took awhile so I just dont want to have to go through it all again only to be arrested, if i know why they came after me i'll avoid it. Would losing 6 rep points all of a sudden have them come after me?

/edit, just went and reloaded the save when leaving the house, it says guards are approaching, word of your misdeeds must have reached them. Then when they show up it says "for crimes against amn, I sentence you to death (!)" how to kill everyone and not get this to happen, or how do i do the quest evil and not get this.

Yes this can happen when your rep is low ( below 6 I think ). There is a random chance some law enforcers ( in BG1 is was flaming fist mercenaries, forgot what they are in BG2 ) will spawn and attack you. This has nothing to do with killing Saerk.

You solve this by increasing your reputation, and keeping it at 6 or higher.

Are you attacked by a group of 5 guys with "Sir" in their names and a Mage with a penchant for casting ADHW? Have you been to the Windspear Hills lately? This may be the cause.

As for a solution, a little bit of Invisibility should help you out quite a lot.

actually i just finished windspear, but i did that one nice and rescued the child. no i get attacked by amnish legion or centurian and cowled enforcer. Ill give it a try again, i dont want to use invisible or run of map, i get a bad feeling ill be constantly followed and bothered and something will get messed up, i just dont want them to show up at all. maybe this time ill elt the cook live so my rep wont dip down too low, hopefully it'll work.
