Right I'm in Watcher's Keep on the second level where I have to collect the four sceptres. The problem is I can't seem to open the door which connects the slime lab to the slime library. Since I can't open this door I can't weaken the ice lab creatures with the mists from the slime lab as described in the note. As it is at the moment I can't damage the monsters in the ice lab because they are immune to all the damage.

that door is locked. you need to go back to the center room with the demon and then take the southeast door to the slime library. There should be a key there which will open the door to the slime room which was previously locked. If you can't locate the key, just hold down the tab button to highlight the areas that it could be in.

I struggled finding the first two sceptres, until I realised the enemies dropped them.
Was pretty annoyed with myself!
