Bard Quest

I need some help on the Bard Quest - I'm afraid I've messed it up.

I have rescured Haer'Dalis and his colleagues from the Astral Prison - and was given the deed to the theater in return for my efforts. To the best of my knowledge, however, the different "incidents" in this particular quest hadn't started yet (at least I don't remember seeing any dialogue telling me to return to the theater).

I then quit playing the game altogether for a couple of months and just started playing again this weekend. While walking around Amn with Jan Jansen and waiting for his quest to start, I decided to see what was happening at the theater.

Much to my shock and dismay, the guy I left in charge just told me the play was flop and that there didn't seem to be much hope of it continuing.

As I said, I don't remember ever getting the dialogue options to resolve any problems the troupe was having - and now it seems the quest has failed.

Is there any way to find out what happened? And if the quest did fail, is there any way to re-set the counters and try again? Or will the PC actually get a second chance to put the play on again? My assassin neglected to keep up with his Thieve's Guild right after he got it, but after paying a sizable fee to Renal Bloodscalp, he was given another shot at it. Does anything like that happen with the theater group and their play?

If not, I'll just have to mark it up to my PC's poor business skills and continue on my quest to rescue Imoen.

You havent messed it up.
I am quite sure it is a bug and it happened to me before. I cant really remember how i solved it, but you are talking to the wrong theatre guy. I mean its the same guy but due to some bug it is him after the whole quest is over.
I think what i did was:
1) After realising it was the wrong guy I reloaded.
2) Found the right one. Either he was standing somewhere else or I spoke to the tavern owner and he appeared.
3)Maybe I tried CLUA
4)Never spoke to the wrong guy again cos that would make me fail the stronghold.

I went back and reloaded two earliers versions of my solo game last night. Both were saved very shortly after rescuing Haer'Dalis from the Astral prison. In fact, one was saved immediately after that because I was thinking of letting Haer'Dalis travel with MY bard (creating a Skald/Bladesinger team) and I saved the game as soon as we went back upstairs.

The other game, I chose to stay solo and had just traveled to the Government District in search of this artist, Sarles.

BOTH games gave me the same dialogue from Higgle (or whatever the guy's name is at the foot of the stairs in the Playhouse). So I'm guessing that I just haven't advanced FAR enough for the Bard Quest to kick in yet. I assume the "flop" he is talking about is the play that Haer'Dalis and HIS troupe were doing. So hopefully the Bard Quest is fubarred just yet.
