OMG I dont know why but I have the strangest feeling that I should finally finish BG2 and TOB all the way through, and what is even stranger is that for some reason I feel like playing a good character OMG-Shock horror!!!
Anyway, I have never played a good character and was wondering what character would be best for storyline and roleplaying purposes, I have finished SOA before with a few charcters, but never finished TOB, and I almost always use a theif, so bring on the suggestions. And soon. Please.
Its middle of final exam time and im bored

Try playing a Paladin to test your roleplaying abilities. It is really hard to pass up the quests and things you KNOW are easy experience, yet not being able to due to your alignment. Or even more so, an evil character. But a Paladin will be a more effective party member throughout the games.

Hey, Hivetyrant, how about going to the extreme and playing a Paladin! And then get that goody two-shoes Airie to be your mage/cleric.

Ah, Brainless One, you beat me by mere seconds!

Bah, I might as well just go and join the ALSB while im at it
But that actually does sound good.
Also, I remember Lennon showing me a mod that allowed for Paladins of ..... and each had its own special powers and stuff, or was that a cleric mod????
Well, if im going to play a paladin, then are there any good mods for them?

That mod was a Cleric mod. To be specific, the Gibberlings 3's Cleric Remix Mod.
Paladins are generally fine without mods. All the kits are good, except maybe the Undead Hunter. To make it the most fun, avoid the two handed sword profiency. A fittingly roleplayed Cavalier beats a cookie-cutter Paladin any day
An interesting set of NPCs could be:
Aerie
Keldorn
Mazzy
Anomen

Be careful with your equipment, or the game will loose its fun. Trust me when I say that you do not want any one character to take over completely. More importantly, you do not want any one character to take over because you gave them a certain set of armour and a certain weapon.
You'll be able to juggle your spells quite well, with Cleric spells from 2 (or possibly 3) characters, and special abilities from 2 or 3, more if you install Cleric Remix. Party of only 5 means slightly faster level ups. If it's too many people for you, I would drop Mazzy first - she's a pure warrior, and her special abilities aren't as useful to the party. Having so many more Cleric-capable than Mage-capable party members will help to offset the Mage's absolute power. If you play your spells right (or wrong).
No matter what gender you play, you have a good romance in there should you want it. You will have some good banter, more so with the NPC Banter Packs. If you do a romance, you might also consider the Flirt Packs at the same site.

All in all, it would be a fun party to play - I might play something like it myself, if I ever get my CDs back...

For storyline and roleplaying as a good person I would say that you have to keep Imoen.

as a good player, your main reason for going to spellhold is her rescue - it makes no sense of the storyline to then ditch her. TOB with the Ascension mod also gives a better storyline with her in the party.

I disagree. A good character might not think of Imoen as being in any danger. A paladin, especially one with low Wisdom and/or Intelligance, might even see her as being unstable and so her being locked up actually benificial to the world. Alternatively, they could think her mature enough to look after herself once she's free.
They may want to go to spellhold to investigate the 'power' that Irenicus talks about - how might they use it to do good? It is also apparent that Jon has alot of power, more than the Cowled Wizards, and more than you. And so, a good character - knowing how cruelly Irenicus treats people - might see his imprisonment as not enough.
This game is full of options: you are not pigeon holed into one line of thought. A good character does not have to rescue Imoen to be roleplaying. Infact, to think that way - to roleplay in this game is to do x,y, and z - is actually detriment to roleplay. Roleplaying is thinking as your character. Roleplaying is even becoming your character. It involves making decisions, as your character, and seeing how they play out. However, a "character" is not "A cavalier", or "a chaotic evil half-elf thief". A good character is "Kevin Opperstom, Paladin of the Order of the Most Radiant Heart, Sworn to Aid in the eternal fight against supernatural beasts". A character has a history, and a personality. A character is, thus, a complex person - not a pigeon-holed way of playing a game.
If you can make a good story through your character's eyes, based on your character's experiences, that is good roleplaying. "I invited Imoen to join because I felt she needed support and rehabilitation after what Irenicus did to her" is good roleplaying. "I have Imoen in my party because I'm a good aligned character" is not.

Well i feel bg2 is definitely good-inclined. Most of the quests involve helping people in some way(DeArnise Keep, Trademeet, etc) and its actually beneficial to have a high rep for the cheaper cost of buying equipment, so you cant go around failing your stealing and hacking the shopkeeper. You should try Cleric of Lathanter(spelt correctly?) so you can give good, wholesome advice to people and help their miserable lives. That way you can add Keldorn into the party.
My list of do-gooders:
Anomen
Mazzy
Keldorn
Aerie(gets in trouble wif Korgan)
Nalia
