SPOILERS - Pontifex is the yellow guy talking about the Ritual ...

I was fighting Pontifex (actually his dragon form called Ira - something) and I tried first with party where I attacked him with 4 Spellstrikes and then with LR and many spells and he couldn't care less. LR's don't come through.

His protections are: Spell Trap, Spell Shield, Spell Turning (hmm, I think), SI:Abjuration and some other ones.
So 4 Spellstrikes should be able to clear this, right?

In the next test I tried with 5 Ruby Rays of Reversal and nothing! Zero! Niente! Lower Resistance and other spells don't catch him!

And what happens later in the fight is that Keldorn dispels his protections with Carsomyr, but then Ira-guy casts PFMW and when I try to Breach him there is no effect.

ANY IDEAS?

All I can think of right now, is that you have some weird bug in your game. Have you tried e-mailing Weimer?

Pontifex is a Mage. When you kill him he turns into a Dragon. Who cheats like hell. (Time Stop in Chain Contingency)
Pontifex is part of the Tactics MOD. It is a component called "The Ritual". He`s found near Wathcer`s Keep.

I've only fought him once, but happily I was able to nail him and his buddies on the first try. My steps to victory:
1) Realize that Weimer was probably going to pull something of this nature.
2) Have the proper party balance. I beat him using a tactic that Nalia, Imoen, and Jan can do, but Edwin and Kelsey cannot.
3) Have at least 3 Level 9 slots at your disposal (or the equivalent scrolls, if you so choose).
4) Have a thorough understanding of the fact that Time Stop does not actually stop time.

Leslie, you actually already know the answer to Ira'karoudnideg's bizarre spell immunities. It's in your Bag of Holding as we speak.

Is it from that amulet he gives that looks completely terrible to use? I don't remember the stats on it, but IIRC, it sort of makes you like a...vampire? Well, all I remember for a fact is that it's cursed.

Wow, could you elaborate on those points?
And the last sentence too? I'm not sure what you mean.

I was under the impression that maybe Ponti was wearing the same Boots of Preservation and that's why I couldn't dispel or remove anything. Shouldn't 5 RRoR's remove everything?

Could? Yes, I can.
Would? No, I won't. I prefer to be oblique and leave something for you to figure out for yourself.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure that Ira is wearing those Boots after all--I'll check his CRE file when I get home. Perhaps his WeimerBuff(TM) Contingency contained SI:Abjuration and SI:Alteration (which should make him immune to Ruby Ray as well as all the other anti-spell Protections) the first time, but not the second time.
