I thought BG2 was great, however, I did not play this one. Should I go and try to find BG. How many cd's is it?

I think that it is something you should definitely think about.

Should I buy the first one, and go all the way through?

In the first one you'll start of the saga so yes by all means buy it. When you encountered a wolf in BG2, you'll probably said 'Ah nothing to worry about'. While in BG, you'll say 'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH, a wolf, run'. I strongly advice on buyin both. Both are good games and you'll need a bit of diferent strategies in both. Spells work differently and so on. BG is on 5 disks not counting the expansion which is on one more disk. But get them both.

Buy both of them beause the first one is the one that started it all and is a very good game. So yes, buy it. And definately buy the expansion pack. its great and adds some new areas and items.

I would run out and buy it now. I started with the first one and made my way through the entire saga. It gives you a sence of the PC going from a nothing to this all mighty charcter. It reminded me of the series David Eddings did.

Go for it. Do you really want to be stuck in your room, thinking of what happens to your character next? Well go buy it, and find out. its a very good plot and it gives a great twist. Though ToB does kinda shower you with goods every fight...

Well, if you've already played bgII the plot holds few suprises for you.
Its still a great game though.

All of the games in this series are amazing BG/TotSC, BGII/ToB, and Icewind Dale/Hearts of Winter. If you like one, you'll like them all.
