Final Battle spoilers here.....

In the newer versions of Tactics (v18 and up), the README states that Jon's death speech has been re-introduced. But then I've heard from users that contradict this: They say that even with the most recent version of Improved Irenicus installed, their PC is seen casting spells on an empty patch of ground. No Jon, no Jon's speech floating in midair. For those of you who play Improved Irenicus, what's the concensus on this?

Six, AFAIK, I was the only one who posted the end battle problem of Improved Irenicus here. My most recent two games all went through the latest version of Improved Irenicus, and encountered the same thing: PC shooting spells onto the empty ground. I might as well be caused by the multiple BGII installation, but I don't know. Guess we need other gamers to confirm this particular bug I encountered.

btw, the latest Improved Ilyich is unbeatable for me (tired of trying after several reloads with my newest game) thanks to you all doors stay open and we get an extremely agressive AI Fallen Deva.

ADD:

just checked...I was playing v. 17 which was the version that reacted to Six's reviews. Can't keep up with the updates anyway, I checked the v. 20 readme, and didn't see the bug being mentioned and therefore no fix of that particular problem. So, if it's a bug in v.17 and not noticed I'd expect that it's still there in the v. 20.

I can (somewhat) confirm that it's still there, Six. I can't quite keep up with the updates, either, but I have the version after your suggestions were implemented (but before the one with Improved Druid Grove, so if it's fixed in there, I wouldn't know).

I still get the "beam of light w/ no Irenicus" problem.

BTW, teardropmina - that Deva is exceptionally stupid - try to get it to cast its Firestorm in the library, then run away - it'll fry Ilyich's entire company for you (or, if you prefer, have Jaheira cast Resist Fire/Cold on someone - PC, Minsc, or herself - then have everyone else retreat, just to keep Ilych & co. in the 'Storm while still beating on them).

ROTFL, thats so typical. try to make something hard, and it stumbles over the limitations of the AI(as always)

@Imrahil,

I actually thought about using that tactic, letting Ilyich & Co. get a taste of what we have to suffer when we summon a Fallen Deva. But that's like not fighting the battle at all, and I just uninstalled it since I'd prefer not letting that component screw up my own Fallen Deva.

I can't say as I blame you - even when I try to fight Ilyich & company fair & square, some of them wind up dying to the Deva's Firestorm anyway.

I'm not sure there's any way around the Deva's complete disregard for his friends (except maybe, if you really wanted to make the effort, running one character into visual range, grabbing the Oil of Speed in the bookshelf, drinking it, then run far away, since the Firestorm targets a specific character & will follow that character until it actually "goes off") other than disrupting the summoning of the Deva, which is a valid tactic unto itself.
