For any of you item-builders out there... Has anyone put together a custom item that lets you stack ioun stones and get each of the bonuses added together?

I'm incredibly ANNOYED that I can't take full advantage of my ioun stones. It seems like I've got six or eight of the things floating around in my bag of holding, many of which provide a nice AC or attribute bonus but are not worthwhile enough to switch out for the helm of balduran or one of the other upgraded helms. I think that in P&P games you could just toss additional ioun stones into the air and they would form a little solar system above you (even with a helmet on!).

While it would be difficult to engineer ioun stones that could be added to all of the helmets in the game since they both occupy the same slot, shouldn't it be theoretically possible to engineer a stackable ioun stone? Kind of like with the Flail of Ages where you can continue to add elements and gain additional bonuses.

Please help! I would love to be able to take full advantage of all those stones.

My one-man campaign to get this introduced has finally picked up steam!

Quick modders, make this quickly... it will make you famous!

After collecting every single one through the entire series, I was a little dissapointed when nothing could be done with them.

Consists of several different Ion stones combined into one more powerful artifacts. Would be ideal for a soloist <---- ME.

I'll have one of those please.

The idea's run its way though my head, as well....the problem is, combining ALL the stones into one item would be overkill. So which stones go with which others, and would conflict with what others? I see 2 methods of going about it:
Quote:
Upgrade Method--

Cromwell can combine the Pale Green, Dusty Rose, and Pearly White stones, and then later Cespenar can add in either Wong Fei's, OR Malla's, OR the Lavender & Obsidian.

Cespenar can melt together the Gold and Silver into an Electrum Ioun Stone, which can be combined with the Bronze & Circlet of Netheril.
Quote:
Ioun Circlet Method--

Create a circlet worn in the Head slot, which is classed as a Container that can only hold up to 3 items of type Helmet. The enchantments on the Ioun Stones socketed into the Circlet are cumulatively applied to the wearer. The good side is that this allows the user to mix & match Stones, but the bad side is that it would be a nightmare to script.

Where this gets really weird is thinking about what happens if more than 1 Ioun Circlet becomes available: Since the Circlet is itself a Helm, what happens when you store a Circlet inside another Circlet? AAaahhh! Don't put that Bag of Holding in the Portable Hole!!!

The circlet seems like a good idea and quite doable, Six... but who has the time for it? I'd do it myself except I don't know how to modify conversations and script using this engine. Ah well..

I'm glad someone else had thought about all of this, too. I agree with SixOfSpades that you may want to limit the number of slots within the item so that it doesn't become all powerful. What about making the ioun stones upgradeable (like the Flail of Ages) but causing their destruction in the process. That way, the player decides which three stones to put together and the result is irreversible? It might solve the problem of infinitely stackable ioun stones.

Then the problem becomes, how to code the object so that all the bonuses attributable to items within that container are applied to the user... I'm afraid my knowledge of the game mechanics is just not good enough to know if it would work.

Userunfriendly- I've not heard of the Ruad mod. Any other info?

You could use IEEP to make the new items, but I dunno how to make Cromwell comebine them.
