Ive played both BG1 and BG2, but have only beaten BG1. Im thinking of playing through the whole saga from the beginning of BG1 through BG2:Throne of Bhaal minus BG1:Tales of the Sword Coast which i dont own.
Having already played through BG1 once and through not quite half of BG2, im wondering what character to start over with. I want a character that is fun to play, not overly difficult, but is still challenging to play. I was thinking something along the lines of a thief character, which i have played before and loved. I was also thinking of trying to solo through BG1, and finish BG2 and its expansion with a party, then play it again through solo with the same character or whatever. Right now im sticking with a custom thief class, unless someone can persuade me otherwise. thanks |

welcome to IW!
If this is unmodded, I believe that no class is frustrating to play, so definitely go with what you already know you like. when you're ready for more exploration, post again and i'm sure there'll be plenty of suggestions! (just look at how many soloing stories there are going on!) |

heh, there's a goldmine of mods out there it's fantastic for replaying
briefly (and just the ones that come off the top of my head) gameplay: tactics - better AI,some new/different monsties and encounters, more challenging ascension - alternative Throne of Bhaal ending redemption - an add on to ascension where you can redeem johnny-boy. If you haven't played ToB yet, then don't install those two! ease of use - things like stackable potions unfinished business - quests from SoA that were cut before the release rogue re-balancing mod - brings bards/thieves etc closer to PnP original NPC mods Solaufein (from the drow city, remember him?) - philosophical fighter/mage with some real depth. That's a romance as well. Valen - Bodhi's messenger. Fighter/thief IIRC Tashia - Sorceress (and romance as well i think) Silver Star - C/Evil Assassin Chloe - kensai and a lesbian romance The sticky thread at the top has a comprehensive list and links. You can find that here: http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...c;f=2;t=022305 EDIT - Pay particular attention to BGTutu under the 'total conversions' heading. That'll allow you to play BG1 using the BG2 engine. You may need Tales of the Sword Coast though, i forget, so check the readme's before downloading. there are a lot of mods available for BG2--for a complete list, check some of the pinned threads.
they generally fall into two categories: making the game harder and/or introducing new NPCs. check them out and do a couple usenet searches or something to see what people have said about them to see if maybe you'd like them. |

IMHO if you haven't finished the unmodded BG2, play through a couple of times before you start adding on mods. Baldurdash, of course. Ease-of-use, maybe. But be careful what you add on because some of them are buggy and they don't always work well together.
Otherwise, enjoy the journey! I would concur with Wally P's advice to choose a class that you like and go with it. There will be plenty of chances to try all the other classes to see what they're like.

You mention Tashia but not Kelsey? For shame. You might want to head on over to here:Forgotten Wars
