Pierce shield (abjuration) bug

Just going through my party before i go to kill the demo gibbon and i noticed that Imoen had the spell Pierce shield in the usual level 8 spot, but Nalia had it in the level 7 and level 8 spot !!!!!

I double checked the stats of Nalia's level 7 spell and it came up with the fact that it was a level 8 spell what is going on? Is this a known bug? I just bought and had her learn about 20 good top level spells in one hit. Is this a factor?

Anyway it came in usefull

is she wearing an item to allow her to cast at level 7 to level 8 spells?

MMM No. she was granted an extra level 8 HLA spell. but then so was Imoen.

Imoen is on 7.4 million xp and Nalia is on 4.8 million xp

I had the imoen romance mod and the ease of use mod only. If it was a mod causing this problem why not affect both of them (Nalia and Imoen)

bug...or you did some spell editing...i've edited spells to be a lower or higher levels than they are originally, but this one is new to me...don't worry about it too much...its not going to mess up your game, unless it looks funky in chain contingency, in which case you should erase the spell...

Doh! Sorry, thought I'd already replied to this 2 days ago.

The problem is due to the fact that you summoned Nalia via the Spirit of Fate in your Pocket Plane (the XP difference was a dead givaway there) instead of recruiting her in SoA and bringing her into ToB with the rest of the party. You see, the Spirit of Fate summons a higher-level incarnation of the character; in Nalia's case, the creature summoned is NALIA18. NALIA18 has exactly the bug you mention: She has a Level 8 spell, Pierce Shield, listed among her Level 7 spells.

To fix it in your current game, simply right-click on her Level 7 Pierce Shield and say "Erase Spell."

To fix it in all future games, open up NALIA18 in Shadowkeeper's Creature Files, delete her Level 7 Pierce Shield, and replace it with either Khelben's Warding Whip or Ruby Ray of Reversal. (Be careful--many spells have more than 1 version, and only 1 version is correct. Many times, you just have to go by trial and error.)

To fix it in everybody's games, email Kevin Dorner (BaldurDash) about it--like I just did.

An item like that does not exist in the game.
