A question of probability

Alright. I have completed the quest set by Renal several times, IE: infiltrating Mae'Var's guildhall. However... On one occassion out of almost 15 he set me the task of retrieving the statuette of Lathander from the temple, rather than the necklace of the Talassan priestess.

The reason I have done it so many times is due to bugs in TDD which have had m restarting many times(They are now fixed, so I'm playing for keeps now)

I found getting the statue extremely difficult during the daylight, however my question is this: How often does he set you this task? IU saved my game just before speaking to Mae'Var and reloaded almost (I recorded it) 20 times, and every time got the Talos quest and never the Lathander theft. Now, I opened shadowkeeper and checked the global variables and found nothing dealing with this, so it leads me to believe that getting the statue of Lathander is a very improbable occurance... How many of you have gotten that quest and how often? And are there any conditions that need to be met?

As a neutral evil fighter/thief I've played it several times as I said. And gotten the statue quest once.... Anyway. Thoughts, ideas?

It depends on allignment and reputation, I think... not sure of the exact conditions, though.

I once got it but didn't realise until it was too late. I had done the quest numerous times and didn't think it would change. I was more than suprised when i returned the neckless but he wanted a statue. This doesn't help but oh well!

Ironbar, I did the same thing. I snuck back into the Temple of Talos and returned the amulet to the chest [img]tongue.gif[/img] But then I couldn't do the Lathander quest... it was surprisingly difficult as everytime I opened the safe, all of the guards pounced me and beat the hell out of me.

Anyway, I think the time I got the statue quest was ?after? I had rescued Viconia as the evil party. So I think reputation is right... though does anyone have exact numbers here?...

If you do the circus quest first you get to 10 Rep, then 8 with Viconia. So perhaps if the circus quest is left till later and Viconia is rescued first, A rep of 7 would have me going into Lathander's temple?
