in baldurs gate city i've found splint mail+1 and crossbow +1 can i find these earlier in the game

Nope, you can't get them any earlier, at least not as far as I know.
Crossbow-wise, there are 3 really good ones in the game: The Light Crossbow of Speed that's for sale in Beregost, and the other 2 are both in Baldur's Gate; but one is kinda protected, since the guy who carries won't appear unless you did something earlier in the game, and doing that something is not generally held to be a good thing. This is why I, personally, have never even seen that Crossbow, but that's OK, I much prefer Bows anyway. Splint-Mail wise, there are at least 3 sets of Splint+1 in the City. But who cares? You can't even get to BG without finding the Plate Mail +1. And in general, +1 armors are bad, because you can't wear Rings/Cloaks/Amulets of protection at the same time, and the Rings & stuff help your Saving throws, as well. The only +1 armors I would wear are the Ankheg, the Full Plate +1, and the Plate +3 (which is in ToSC). [ 11-06-2001: Message edited by: SixOfSpades ]
