Can't get out of the Sewers in Temple District

I'm Stuck

I went into the sewers underneath the Tempel District.
Beat the wizard, I have the Portal Gem.

I came in through a secret door to where the chapel is.
That exit is now gone. I can take the spiral stairs up
but I come out on a balcony with no exits. There is
another spiral stair near the chapel but it is unfinished.

I would really hate to go to an old back up file.

Please help

The exit isn't gone. Just move your mouse over to the left a bit (so that it's over the stairs that look like they're going down.)

There are only two sets of stairs that I saw.

The one south of the chapel that goes out to the
balcony.

The second one I see is the unfinished stairs north of the
chapel.

Is there a third set of stairs I am missing?

It's the stairs you came up. The ones to the south of the chapel go up and down. You just have to get your mouse in the right spot to get the down stairs.
