I started playing Baldur'd Gate last spring, progressed through TOSC, BG2, and was playing TOB when my computer died. I got a new pc over a month later, but discovered that my lone backup of a saved game file got corrupted. Fortunately, Shadowkeeper was able to read the party information, and I was able to use it to reconstruct my party exactly as it was. The only drawback was that I had to start TOB over from the beginning. I posted about this awhile back, but I finished TOB today (what a tough ending battle!), and I owe it all to Shadowkeeper. I would have hated to have played TOB with a whole new party, even an approximation of my old one. It would have spoiled it. These boards are great. I don't post much, but I do a lot of lurking, picking up tips and strategies. I got a lot of good help when I was playing Wizardry 8 earlier this year. A great resource.

Kudos to you, Dobian! I was fried multiple times when first trying out the Final Battle! I know Shadowkeeper is a nifty tool, but believe me that I'm glad to see that it is actually used in a benevolent way once. Mostly, people brag on about how they give their character godly stats, overpowered items and stuff like that. I for one NEVER cheat in a game. Okay, I do cheat: but only to try out how much fun this cheating is in truth. Then, I reload and just play on without cheats. Much more fun that way

What's the fun in bragging about having godly stats? It just shows that you can't play the game the way it was meant to be played...

Instead, I'd be bragging about beating the game with ungodly stats instead

Along the same lines, I find it amazing that people get all modest when telling about their so-called "real-life" stats, yet never roll a PC with less than 18 in his/her primary stat. Or playing the game without godly items like Crom Faeyr or Celestial Fury. I'd continue, but the last thread where I started ranting got deleted.

Congrats! Yeah SK is a wonderful tool but you must know where the limits are. I never use it sometimes when i lose an item. But if i miss it i just say:"Heck I missed it. More luck next time..." and move on.
