Is there any way to change the screenshot auto-format? When I snap a screenie, the game automatically saves it as a BMP file. Is there anything I can do to change the auto-format/save option into making JPG files instead? Or am I stuck doing this manually through paint programs?

Whoa...I didn't know the game would make screenshots for you! I always thought you had to load a screen capture program and then use that program's shortcuts to take a picture...

How do you activate the in-game screenshots???

On newer keyboards (1995 manufacture and after), there's a button called "print screen" or abbreviated as "Prt Scrn" usually located in the upper-right-hand corner of the keyboard, right around where the Delete button is. Pressing this button when SoA/ToB is active will save whatever image was on the screen at that moment into a folder in your BG2 directory.

I was wondering if there was a way to save these screenshots in JPG format instead of BMP format, if there was a command I could change or something instead of loading Paint or Photo Editor and doing it that way.

"Print Screen" is not connected to your operating system--as far as I know, there's no way to take a screenshot of your desktop--it's only connected to certain programs that include commands that allow screenshots. This means that the Print Screen command is a slave of whatever graphics format used by the program in question....and BG uses bitmaps.

Just get used to editing your BMPs into JPGs. You were going to crop them anyway, right? I mean, if I take a screenshot of

Yoshimo- You're right behind me, right?
Yoshimo- Backstab Quadruple Damage
Slaver Guard- Damage Taken (52)
Slaver Guard- Death

I don't need the rest of the image to remind me that Yoshimo said something ironic just before gibbing somebody.

Oh, and about the "color loss" that occurs when converting from BMP to JPG: I find that blowing the picture up to about 200% of its original size, then converting, then shrinking again, works wonders to prevent the whole picture from going a blah grey.

ALT + PrntScn should take a screenshot of anything, including your desktop if need be.

My system allows taking a screenshot of anything with pressing PrtSc. It goes to the clipboard, and can be pasted to Paint or whatever.

Print Screen always worked for my PC, no matter what program I'm in. I hit the print screen button, and open Photoshop, go to NEW DOCUMENT, and it defaults to the proper size so I just hit OK, and once it's open I just hit PASTE. There it is. Of course after that you need to flatten the layers, but that's not hard at all. You can then crop and edit till your mouse fingers fall off.

The only problem I've had with it is when I try to take screen shots of something from RealPlayer or Windows Media Player... they never work for me. *pout*

On Macs, you can do a full screenshot, or a selective one. If you hit Apple + Shift +3, it does a full screen shot. If you hit Apple + Shift + 4 it actually brings up lil crosshairs and you can draw a rectangle around what you want to get a picture of. Only problem with Macs is that it defaults to a generic picture file... and I always have to open it in Photoshop and save it as a jpeg... but it still works.

Open it in paint, and use save as, selecting .jpg format. Not the best jpg converter around but it works.
