im having major trouble installing bgt(baldurs gate trilogy), the reason being that the bgt installer.exe keeps crashing. no problem i thought. ill just download a new one! well, no effect(suprise suprise). first it starts out how i believe its supposed to. i watch it through the task manager, and its running smoothly, until it goes to the dreaded "not responding" state! what is up with this thing!!!i have only installed SoA, ToB and latest ToB patch(v.yada yada 98.), but it just wont work! on top of that, i messed up with registering onto teambg's forum so i could have asked what the hell was going on, but no! i forgot what username i used and i now it says that my email address is already in use, so i cant just register with a different name without opening a new e-mail account, which i have no desire of doing what-so-ever.*sigh*i suppose i should hit the sack before i really get frusturated...

btw, im using the installer patch 2.1.zip, ive run the installa.bat, then tried the installer.exe. im running windows xp, if that has anything to do with anything. what am i doing wrong?

Um, no offense to you, Raistlin, but why are all the folks having problems with the BG trilogy mod asking their tech questions here instead of on the TeamBG fora? After all, they're the ones who made the trilogy...

Not responding means it dosent do anything when windows sends it a signal requesting status information. BGT installer.exe does this because Bardez wrote it using very a very crude, evil, crap, worthless, language known as Visual Basic, and while its working it dosent pay attention to anything else.

In short, it is working, its just not telling windows that its working. Leave it alone for a while and itll probably finish up in about half an hour.

ok, so this time it worked(presumably), so i ran the installb.bat. then i started bg2 and clicked my way to the Baldurs Gate icon and started the game. it started in the Duchal palace, just like the tutorial! do i need to install some/all the patches?

Yeah...the installer will say Not Responding for quite awhile. It's best just to go grab some dinner or something while you wait. I think Bardez is working on alternate installation methods, but it probably won't happen until the bug reports slow down. This is one HELL of a huge mod, so a lot of quirks are to be expected.

wohoo!!! i got it to work! and immidiately i noticed a bug. when ambushed, gorion shoots only 1 magic missle...per magic missle, instead of the five he is supposed to.

pirengle: no problem! im sure you just forgot about it! i was gonna post it at teambg's bug report forum...ah well, problem solved!
