Yippiee,

Just rediscovered my BGII discs!

However I wouldn't start a new topic only to bother you guys with my insignificant hapiness.
I do indeed have questions.

1.) Walking through Amn yet another time without ToB installed yet (its in my drawer but I don't want to instll it for some reasons e.g. Cloak of Mirroring etc.). Still I want to advance in XP. So here's my question: Can the XP cap remover from Baldurdash be safely used so that I can import the char into ToB later on (after I have installed it of course) thus making it (theoretically) possible to pack up my PC to say lvl 25 and continue on this lvl into ToB?

2.) Can anyone with D&D knowledge tell me if the Mind Flayers and the Sahuagin are actually creatures known in the Forgotten Realms (do they appear in any books) or if they are just an addition made by the game designers. They just seem so out of place to me (especially the Sahuagin)?

3.) How do I defeat Kangaxx in his DemiLich form??? - Just kidding!

THX

1) I dislike the idea of an XPcap remover. But the baldurdash ones are safe. Well, safer than most anyway. You will probably miss out on HLAs if you go beyond the SoA cap without ToB installed.

Also, the cloak of mirroring can be fixed - delete clk26.itm (or something like that, use SK to find the CLUA code for it, and look for a file with that name and a .itm extension) from the override folder. ToB has numerous advantages, especialy if you install mods.

2) They are official D&D creatures. Theres an old thread by memnoch which contains details of their PnP incarnations, among loads of other information you may find interesting. Dont rely on it for gameplay info though, most of the BG2 monsters are nerfed a fair bit. The thread is called something like "denizens of the underdark".

I think I remember it. Just speedread through most of it back then as I was not as much into D&D then and it was a rather long post (3+ pages IIRC).

I would say that the Sahagin (however you spell their name) were almost certainly in the books...they have, at any rate been a staple of Final Fantasy all the way from the NES original...excepting FF9...anyway, this seems to show that there is some link to early D&D like games.

P.S. Every-ones so nice here...sorry for spamming, I didn't know that I was.

P.P.S. I genuinely didn't mean that postscript to sound sarcastic...within about ten seconds of posting my first letter, someone not only replied to it, they answered all of my questions fully and to the letter...*sob*...I love you guys!

I did see that they were called Sahuagin or whatever, its just that in the Final Fantasy series, for some reason, they're called Sahagin. You can check it out by buying Final Fantasy Origins, and Final Fantasy X. Unless you're in America, you lucky, lucky people, in which case, get Final Fantasy X-2.
