Rep. problem

For some strange reaso my reputation is not going up. according to the manual, i only need to donate 500 gp to a temple in order to raise my reputation 13 to a 14. i even donated 100 gp, but to no avail. i've been trying to donate to the temple of Ilmater in the slums, is there something wrong, or is it just not popular in the slums?

[A typo - it's 1200 to go up to 13, and 1500 to go to 14]

I'm not sure how much is required to raise your reputation, but the manual is known to have several mistakes so it may be wrong in this instance. In addition, you have to donate all at once - a little 100 gp donation won't help you at all.

I suggest that you not worry about donating to raise your reputation at this point in the game - you will have plenty of opportunity in the early going to raise it through good deeds, and you can put the money to good use elsewhere. Since I noticed from another thread that you're playing a paladin, the only reason that you should donate is if your reputation is threatening to drop low enough to revoke your paladinhood.
