My whole party got Lillith Amulets from Pontifix... now my Question is... what do they really do?

And why are they cursed? (no spoil... just advice or pointed at the right direction plz ) because they seem like god gifts... but I don't trust them... because Pontifix says I shouldn't trust nobody... so I don't (heck the guy is a real big gold/bronze dragon! talking about trust

can anybody explain about those amulets?

other note, who the hell are those: (spoilers ahead)
* Posion Avatars, first they talk to you and let you go... the second time when they summon you in that little planar world of them... they attack... and OMG! what the hell is wrong with Fallowdark (sp?)... (the guy that is immume to like...euuhh everything!) the rest of them are scrap... but that guy isn't touched by anything.. I used as a last resort... the wand of wonder on him... and it petrified him the first hit!..
*

So who are those guys?

The Lilith Amulet gives you vampiric defenses. I don't know them all by heart, but you get cold res, regen, immunity to a bunch of psionics etc etc. Haven't actually tried it on myself, but I think that the amulet will cause you to lose control over your character in certain situations.

That particular monster you're referring to can only be harmed by non-magical weapons, so use your fists if you don't have any.

The encounter itself is called the "Red Badge" and is a component added by the Tactics Mod.

And Pontifex gives some not-too-subtle hints about who he is.
Such as: "I am a drag... you don't need to know".

Oh, rest assured - the amulets are cursed for a reason.

As requested, i won't spoil anything for you... lets just say that they can be analogized to steroids - they'll give you one hell of a boost usually, but they can cause some unfortunate... side effects. Watch out for insomnia.

Hmmm... now I'm really curious. I put a Lillith Amulet on Khorgan after a WK visit just after Yaga-Shura & other than the whole Cursed thing, never saw a downside. What exactly is there to worry about that I missed? (spoilers appreciated at this point in the thread )

IIRC it makes the person equipt go berserk randomly. I.E. you can't control them and they can attack your party members

That's more like it. Now, the Lillith Amulets actually have two disadvantages (well, three if you consider the hard-to-remove thing). First - as Buster_Wiz pointed out - they have a chance of making you go berserk and uncontrollable. Second - and this is what the insomnia comment was about - the amulets make you immune to the Wish spell's Rest option, and, in some rare cases (i've heard a few reports about it), even to normal rest! It's for you to decide whether it's worth it or not.

Just checked them out last game and they seem to be more advantageous than disadvantageous. It seems that they grant:

 • Immunity to normal weapons
 • +50% resistance to electricity
 • +50% resistance to magic cold
 • regeneration of 3 hit points per round
This is a pretty damn impressive list of immunities/abilities considering good amulets are few and far between. My last game through was with just me (ranger) and Sarevok, and these amulets really proved their worth. The immunity to the wish rest option was no problem since I didn't have the means to cast that spell anyway. The uncontrollable berserk was rare and since there were only 2 of us, there was little danger of a friendly casualty anyway. I never encountered problems with normal resting.
