I guess you are playing with Tactics Mod
-Get a Scroll of Ture Sight
-Cast Insect Plague if you have it
-Fight

But IMHO you are too low level for the guy.

Normal Mea`Var is a piece of chockolate cake.

Conjurers can't use True Sight, not even from scrolls. (Although they can use the Book of Infinite Spells [True Sight], if they happen to get that page.) Therefore, The Magical, Mysterious Misled Mae'Var and his Potion-Popping Pals are going to make life hell for you.

Unless--
- Summon Demons, which can see right through illusions
- Use Detect Illsions (with 2 Thieves, you've got enough Thieving points to justify having some skill in this, even at your low level)
- Have your spellcasters use Stoneskins & Ironskins to absorb the Backstabs, and pray
- Recuit somebody else for help.

Or, Mislead and Cloudkill the hell out of them, if you're at too low of a level.

This should help you out a little bit, but Tactics Mae'Var may be a little bit tougher, but this ought to work.

 • Throw up any other spell protections or any good armor that can help you in this fight.
 • Have your conjurer cast Web and Cloudkill on Mae'Var and his allies which should be a good start in this fight. While they're in the web, keep hitting them with some good offensive spells (Fireball, Cone of Cold, etc.,).
 • Summon Insect Swarm (if you have it).
 • Have your (i'm guessing Yosh) bounty hunter drink Potions of Invisibility and try backstabbing the theives (not too sure if Bounty Hunters can do so) or just have him attack from long range with a bow and arrow.
Hope this helps.

Do NOT use cloudkill. It will take out that prisoner and do horrible things to your reputation. This individual plays a roll in the thief stronghold so it behooves even evil parties to keep him alive.
A fully charges wand of monster summoning is the best weapon here. Stay at the stairs and start casting. Five Gnoles will clog up the doorway and the bad guys will have to go through tem. Keep the door way clogged and only one or at worst two will get through for you to fight personally.
Use any and all spell protections to keep yourself alive. Yes the heavy duty arrows and bolts to hammer away at the bad guys trying to get through your wall of summoned monsters.
If your mage can lower resistance or cast greater malison use those and a wand of fear to even out the odds a bit. Take out his familiar imp ASAP to knock a few HPs off Mae'var. Since you have a swashie and a bounty hunter use their tactics against them and do some backstabbing of your own.
Just keep the potions of healing handy and don’t stop hitting him.

Actually, you have to aim *just right* so that the Beggar doesn't get wasted. The beggar, in my game, was about 2 millimeters from being wasted. Luckily, he ran away

Assuming this is Improved Mae'Var, have lots of healing and invisibility potions handy. The major weakness of Mae'Var, et.al., is that they are unable to detect invisible opponents. Go in invisibly and wait for Mae'Var's spell protections to go down. Whenever a party member is in danger of dying, drink an invisibility potion first, then heal up. Use hit and run tactics. It's possible to trap quite a few of his assassins inside the caged areas.

BTW, I did this with Aerie, Nalia, and a swashbuckler very early in Chapter 2, at about the levels your characters were at, so it can be done. Good luck!
