Without resorting to using user created gear, i was wondering how one might obtain complete invulnerability from physical and magical attacks?

Reason i ask is, i am playing the final battle of the ascention mod, this time i actualy killed balthazar instead of geting him to join me. This for some reason makes the final battle nigh on impossible to win since im forced to fight 3 of my brothers + melissan instead of just two of them. so it usaly ends with me trying to choose which ones kill; dont kill sendai and i get harm touched, dont kill balthazar and battle control is hard since hes all over the place, dont kill yaga shura and the fight with melissan is far too long, dont kill any of the others and their damage output usualy is too high for my characters to handle.

the irenicus fight was extremely hard for me to pull off, it ended with him killing my entire party except my main because of the cloak of cheese protection. bhodi must have went into mist form ten times eventualy he ran out of spells and bhodis morale failure stopped her from going misty.

Party makeup is:
Anomen
Kelsey
Jan
Imoen
Mazzy
Me (kensai 35th level - pure class)

Never played Ascension mod, so im not totally sure, but during the tears of bhaal if you take the good path during sarevok you will get immunity to normal weapons, then with alittle protecton from magical weapons spells, that works. i dont know if thats what you were looking for though...

The "traditional" route is to combine some things from the following list:
  • Defender of Easthaven (must be Warrior or Cleric)
  • Armor of Faith (must be Cleric or Paladin)
  • Hardiness (must be Warrior)
  • Barbarian resistances (must be....duhhhh)
  • Jansen Adventurewear (must be high-level Rogue or a CN Gnomish Thief/Illusionist with Jan's stats or better)
  • Ascension resistances bonus (requires Ascension)
  • Yellow Dragon Scale armor (requires Tactics)
  • Roranach's Helm
  • Belt of Inertial Barrier
Some NPCs have physical resistance bonuses as well--Haer'Dalis has some moderate resistances (though they're not especially remarkable by themselves), and Solaufein has a chance for an incredibly cheesy sword that grants permanent Armor of Faith.
Hardiness. Originally, there was a bug that allowed Hardiness to be cumulative with itself. BaldurDash claimed to have fixed this bug, but I have noticed that the Hardiness gained from Wish is still stackable--and it affects the entire party, to boot. And regular Hardiness will stack with Wish Hardiness.
There's really no such thing as immunity to magical attacks, as so many killer spells ignore Magic Resistance, and more are popping up all the time. But 100% MR is still an extremely valuable asset, and with all the MODs it's quite easy to attain--Purifier, Gaxx, Amulet of the Seldarine and the Cloak of Balduran make a whopping 75%, and when you add in Hell and tMoLtM, that's 90%, and note that none of these items conflicts with any of the items on the Physical Resistances list.

Interesting point: Haer'Dalis will only have these resistances if he joins you at level 19 - which usually means that if you'll take him before the Underdark, he won't have them.

And no, recruiting him at a lower level and levelling up all the way to 19 won't do.

I wouldn't call them "moderate" resistances, either. Level 19 H'D will have 15% Physical Resistance all around, 25% Fire Resistance (both "magical" and "regular") and 50% Cold Resistance (again, "magical" & "regular"). Decent.

I noticed that, too. It's in the Spells Reference.

Hmmm... I can only think of one "magical attack" that will bypass 100% Magic Resistance, -8 save vs. spells and The Cloak (the Cloak in my version, at least, which deflects AoE spells, too).

This is so important, it cannot be overstated (especially for soloers). With 100% MR, you'll waltz through the game.

Yeah, I was browsing through the .CRE files & I noticed that too--have you ever heard any explanation for this effect?

I think I called his resistances "moderate" because an average of about 30% is in fact rather moderate--and also because reducing the amount of damage taken essentially does nothing more than balance out his lousy CON. (Unless you can increase the resistances to near-immunity, of course.)

No. Oh, the shock.

But since no one uses Haer'Dalis anyway...

Yes, I AM aware that some people do use him.

Are we talking ToB end-boss here ?

Actually, no. Think hard - it's quite non-trivial.
