Hi!

My question is, whether this fine craftmanship suffers from a Bug or not.

I.e. my "Blade" character couldn´t switch the ability from throwing to melee, neither could he use it in a combo, tough it is one-handed. (Well perhaps this was unsuccessful due to the ability switch failure?).

If I assumed correctly (that it is a Bug), are there any "Mods" out there to fix it?

Odd... I'm a fan of Azuredge, and it's worked ok for me...

The way I use to switch Azuredge from ranged to melee is to right-click the Azuredge icon on the bottom menu in the main game screen. That gives you the choice of the two modes. You can use that method to change ammo for bows and other launchers as well, and a few other things.

Because Azuredge counts as a ranged weapon, you can't dual-wield it, even if it is set to melee mode. The computer treats this as like trying to use an axe in one hand and a sling in the other; or even two axes while holding a bow. My advice is to get your hands on Frostreaver and Stonefire - two excellent +3 axes - and switch to Azuredge in the inventory screen when you need it for ranged work.

Can´t remember if I tried that out, but I´m sure that I tried to switch in the inventory screen => azuredge => abilities...

Well I´m not really that much for axes besides this little fellow, dualling longswords etc. are more my kind of thing.

But thanks for the tip!

To change an item's Abilities, you can either right-click it in your Inventory screen (there's a little tab marked "Abilities" below its description), or right-click it when it's in your Weapon slot in the main game screen. (Doing the latter with Azuredge can be tricky, as in some versions the Throwing and Melee forms look exactly the same.) Other items that have Abilities are the Book of Infinite Spells, the Rod of Lordly Might and any launcher (Bow, Crossbow, Sling): The Abilities button lets you quickly change which of your ammo slots you want to pull ammo from.

One thing i've noticed with Azuredge is that even when using it as a melee weapon, you're still stuck with just 1 Attack per Round.

Without a fix, azuredge's two icons do look exactly the same. The way I tell them apart is to wait for the tooltips to open, as they identify the mode. Once you use it for awhile, you'll remember which one is first and which is second.

The azuredge fix (it's in one of the fixpacks I think) not only gives a different icon for melee and ranged modes, but also fixes some problems with it's destroy undead ability. Apparently, in the original game, several classes of undead are not included in it's insta-kill targeting.

My advice is to use Azuredge solely for ranged attacks (unless you're fighting undead who are being forced to save vs. death), and switch to something else for melee. You will avoid the ApR issue, and once you've set Azuredge to ranged, you don't have to mess with it. I like it especially because it allows a fighter to use a shield and still have a strong ranged weapon.

A dwarven fighter with grandmastery in axes and sword and shield style is just cool.
