Many Questions!

Hello everybody! This is my first post. I thought I'd register since everyone here seems cool and friendly, and I had a lot of questions about the game. Finally de-lurked. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Anyways, I just installed ToB (no Mods or Baldurdash) and am going through the entire thing a second time but I know missed a lot of stuff just by skimming this forum. Now onto the questions (mostly regarding SoA):

1. Who is Kangaxx and how do I get this quest (I've read a lot about this guy in this forum)?
2. What is the Guarded compound in the Temple District for?
3. What is the Chapel Key in Firkraag's dungeon for?
4. Where can I find a limited wish scroll?
5. Are the Crom Faeyr pieces part of some quest? I found the Hammer of Thunderbolts and the Gauntlets of Ogre Power but haven't come across the Girdle of Frost Giant Strength (can't remember if I got this the first time around) and the scroll with Crom Faeyr's "true name."
6. What and where is the Robe of Vecna?
7. What other items can be upgraded or combined (besides Bow of Gesen, Sword of Equalizer, Mace of Disruption, Horn of Valhalla, Vorpal Sword, Ankheg Shells, Red Dragon Scales and Crom Faeyr)?

I know there are quite a few questions there but can someone help me out?

SPOILERS AHOY

1. Kangaxx is a lich/demi-lich. He can be found in the Dock district next to the pub [img]smile.gif[/img] Go and speak to him and he will give you a quest to restore his body parts. There are two sets of these. One is in the Temple district (you will find it doing the unseeing eye quest), the second is in the Bridge district. Bring both the body parts to El Kaxio and get ready to rumble.
2. It is for the Celestial Fury [img]smile.gif[/img]
3. It smells of poo, so if you go to the sewers in the Temple district and head to the top of the map... you find a 'poo quest'. lol. Visiting this location is essential to forging the crom faer.
4. Adventurer mart. Speak to the young lady at the back of the store who sells spells [img]smile.gif[/img]
5. Girdle of Frost Giant Strength is in the Underdark near some demon knights (very near the koa toa prince(sp?)), you need to summon animals onto the altar to promt them to appear. The scroll with Crom Faeyr's "true name" is found in the Umar hills quest, I think on the body of the Shadow Dragon.
6. Robe of Vecna is a very impressive mage robe (sets AC to 5, decreases spell casting time...) and can be bought from the bonus merchant in the adventurers mart. If you don't have the bonus pack installed, you can't get it. However, I'm sure some kind soul on the forum can provide you with a link for this so you can buy it off him [img]smile.gif[/img]
7. The ones you named are the best upgrades, nothing else even comes close. You can download a item upgrate mod, which gives you some new toys to play with [img]smile.gif[/img]

Welcome to the board!

1) Kangaxx is a *ahem* lich. You can get his quest by exploring the building to the left of Mae'Var's guildhall in the docks.

2) It's part of a quest that was supposed to be part of the game, but got written out. Just go in and loot the place, if you can [img]smile.gif[/img]

3) It doesn't have any use, AFAIK.

4) Lady Yuth, the scroll seller in the Adventure Mart has one for sale.

5) The girdle is somewhere in the Underdark - I forget exactly where. The scroll is part of the shadow dragon's treasure in the Umar Hills quest.

6) Deidre in the Adventure Mart sells it. You have to have the Bonus Merchants mod installed for her to appear.

7) Shadow dragon scale armor and Wave.

ADD) D'oh!! All that typing and Dace beat me to the punch [img]smile.gif[/img] BTW, I believe he's referring to the sewer key in #3, which is actually different from the chapel key.

1) kangnaxx is a demilich got to the bridge district and into the building next to the southern most inn(the one where Jahiera gets cursed, and w/ the Thumb)
2)to put it simply, invading, it was suppose to be connect to the slaver quest but the slaver quest is unfinished
3)i'm not sure
4)i'm not sure, my guesses would be planar prison, scroll salesman, planar prison
5)the scroll is on the shadow dragon in the shade lord quest, the girdle is in a temple coming out of the underdark head south when the silver dragon takes you out
6)you need to download the bonus merchants patch, it's the best robe for mages.
7)shadow dragon scales, lotsa things in tob,

Whoa, thanks for all the "hasted" replies (and the welcome) people! The lightbulb has now been turned on upstairs.

These questions have been bugging me for a while, and now... I am bugged no longer. Yeah!

Now it's time for some unfinished business. Take out Kangaxx (if I can) and reassemble Crom Faeyr! Ooh, Boo's hair stands on end just thinking about it. Hehe.

Just a correction on Dace's post. You need the Sewer Key for that, not the Chapel Key. The Chapel Key is useless.

I wonder why they'd put that key in there if it was useless (unless it was part of an unfinished quest or something). It being there makes you wonder about its function. I was actually thinking of taking it to the Temple Ruins to see if it had any use over there. At least I'll save an item slot in my inventory now (don't have the bag of holding yet). It's not only the Chapel Key that is useless. There are several items in the game that serve no purpose other than to perk your curiosity. I assume the Chapel is part of an incomplete quest, like so many others in the game.

The Chapel Key is *NOT* useless... you know that door that leads into Samia ?? It`s locked. You can pick it, force it, or knock on it - it`s easy to get past.
But what if you explore all of what you can get to first ?? Go through, fight some wraiths, pick up that key.
Now, remind me what keys are used for ?? Ah, that`s right... opening locked things
Have we seen a locked thing lately ?? That door comes to mind... so let`s see if this key fits it.

Lennon is quite right here, the chapel key does indeed open the door just before Samia greets you, ergo it's far from useless since you won't be getting very far in this quest without it [img]smile.gif[/img] .
