difficulty?? what did you chose?

i wanted to know if any of the solo players out there play on CORE RULES, or EASY?? ive personally never gone below CORE RULES, basically because they are what i used in BGI and u get penalized with experience and i thought it applied in the second game. i found out later that it doesn't on this board.... after i passed throne of bhaal lol! but id go CORE anyway

any1 here solo on CORE? or do u guys go EASY

Yeah, I normally solo on insane for the nice challenge factor LOL @ the times of the posts, I just logged in and saw your message, and replied, but it all must have happened within the window of literally a few seconds!

Insane makes things more challenging after you've already beat the game. BG2 would have *much* more playability if the difficulty could be set to the equivalent of Heart of Fury mode for Icewind Dale (Bhaals Fury I guess). (basically, monsters get over 4 times the hit points, and massive attack/saving throw bonuses as well as doing double damage!!). In the case of IWD2, the power of the items you get increases vastly when playing on HoF mode, as well as recieving *thousands* of XP more for each creature slain, making it all worth while. Maybe someone could be bothered to make a mod for BG2.......

HoF For BG2. Now theres a nice solo challenge. Tricky to do though. I remember one of the mod artists complaining about how it was impossible to alter the rule defintitions, so the only way to do it would be to modify every monster definition individualy. A massive job, and not a small download either. Pity.

I myself play on Core first time through, then Insane thereafter. No real point in playing below Insane once you know your way around the game.

First time trough SoA I went with Normal. Second time I tested out the core rules. I got ToB and was a bit disappointed with the challenge SoA had to offer so I went trough ToB on isnane. Now Im going trough again with a Solo..urm Sorceror. Sorcerors are undoubtly extremely powerful so Im testing her on Ascension+Tactics mod on insane. This will be my first and last solo character. I dont like wandering off alone, but this time is ok, cuz imagine how cool it would be if you possesed arcane powers and you would not let any government govern you, you were free to do exactly what you want, they would try to take you down, even turn the whole army against you to gain control over you, but they would fail and you would prevail destroying anything that dared to oppese you. Yes I hate people with power over other people. Its just not right in my eyes. Now when nothing can stop you youre actually a powerperson yourself, though I wouldnt use my powers to control other people by taking over the world or something, Id just like to be free, from any sort of system or government that wants you to obey their rules.

Next time Ill have two or three or even four ppl in my party.

Started on Normal, quickly moved to Core, now permanently playing on Insane and nothing less. Mmmmm... soloing on Insane. [img]tongue.gif[/img] You know... back then, soloing successfully on Insane was considered a massive achievement. These days? Unless your character had one hand tied behind his back, you installed every single dang mod that increases the difficulty, restricted your equipment usage, etc... your solo success would most probably be a case of been there, done that.
