Ive seen plenty of people become authors, so i decided to try it out. Here goes nothing

My charcater is a level 9/10 cleric/mage and im playing core rules. His stasts:

Str: 14
Dex: 17
Con: 14
Int: 18
Wis: 18
Cha: 10(18)

Twas a difficult battle, as is to be expected from any battle with a coweled wizard. This particiular one had been sent to spy on the mage Edwin Odesseiron, who disliked the fact so much, he had sent me to do the job. I thought, "Piece of cake for me. So beneath me too.", my thoughts changed after a short but intense fight with a room full of mephits. After clearing the bottom floor of the little critters, i continiued on to the second floor. After coming up, two stone golems attacked me. They fell quickly to the basing of my Enhanted +3 magical mace, but severly injured me. I thought it too risky to rest in the home of my target, so i backed out and found the nearest inn, healed my self and made the last checks on my spell books, then i rested. I then returned to the house, no more mephits or stone golems. On the second floor, knowing him to be a mage of some power, i decided to cast stoneskin, just in case he decided to summon allies. I emerged on the top floor of the 3 storie building, and there infront of me was Rayic Gethras. He asked me none too politely what i was doing there, and i said i had the wrong house. The fool believed me, i turned to leave, prepared my spell and cast my spook at the fool. He didnt even flinch. Finally the Battle of the Mages started.

Rayic started off by bringin up his protections, and at the sight of that the thought of this being way over my head came to mind, but i am not one who gives up that easy. I quickly thought up a strategie and decided I needed a distraction. With that I summoned, or rather animated, a skeleton ally. The skeleton attacked Rayic immidietly, not damaging the coweled one, just eating away his stoneskin. Rayic then casted a symbol of fear spell. The skeleton was unaffected, but i had to fight against the sudden urge to run around blinded by fear with no destination. After shaking off the fear, i noticed Rayic had summoned his own ally, the fearsome Invisible Stalker from the Material Plane of Air. my skeleton was taking hits and badly injured. I then had to heal him, which gave Rayic the time to turn invisible. The skeleton then attacked the stalker, and by luck, scored a critical hit with the first swing of his mace. I then decided to cast the slow spell, perhaps it would catch the invisible Rayic too, for his spell protections were starting to give away. Tymora smiles on me this day, for it indeed did catch Rayic and the invisible stalker. They being slowed, i had the time to pray upon my deity and receive True Sight, i could now spot Rayic, who was moving in slow motion. I decided that i should weaken the slow wizard now, and then concentrate on the stalker. so i casted Melfs acid arrow on Rayic, hit him on his right forearm disrupting his spell. I then casted the fire arrow spell, followed by magic missle. It only barely injured him though, so i enchanted a weapon, brought in by magic, i now wielded an enchanted mace. Then i casted holy power and hit with all my might at the stalker, badly injuring the servant of Rayic. I then turned and hit at Rayic, who had just killed my ally with his spells, only to notice that he was protected of all magical weapons. I then put the mace to my belt and bashed the grinning Rayic square in the face, knocking him unconsius. I then bashed the stalker a few times with the mace, sending him back to his home plane. By now Rayic had awoken and was casting his next spell. Light blue magic=Necromancy, i gasped and quickly casted Death Ward. My protection came up right as the skeletal finger hit me in the chest. It caused pain to have my soul almost ripped out, but the ward held and i had no serius injuries. I was by now exhausted, but so was Rayic. Rayic started to cast his next spell, but it was disrupted by the sudden pain caused by the acid. Swearing Rayic started to prepare his next spell. Mean while i scrolled through my spell book and found my last offensive arcane spell, and without a second thought casted it. The spell Argannazars Scorcher hit Rayic in the chest, burning him badly. Rayic then responded with a potent Sunfire spell. I nearly collapsed at the intense heat it caused, burning the hems of my robe and my staff. Then, barely able to get to Rayic, I casted a Strenght spell, and with the new strenght hit Rayic with my mace. Both of us fell, I fainted from the fatigue and as it seemed, Rayic did too.

I slept a full day, only to wake up on a bloody floor next to Rayic Gethras. As Uthram now noted, Rayic had not fainted. The last blow had broken his ribs and the ribs had pierced his lungs. Rayic had been bested, and now lay dead in his home. Uthram looted the house, finding several magic items of use. After that he returned to Edwin reporting his deed with pride. Edwin scuffed and gave a new assignement. Uthram left grumbling,"Ungrateful, arrogant bastard, Red wizard thayan scum. I should like to see you beat the Coweled fool, son of a gun...". And so our story ends. The End

Nice story Raistlin, and congrats for beating the grumpy old coot. Looking forward to seeing your pics.

OT - In countless hours of playing BG2, i never once realised that the spell casting effects were directly related to the appropriate school of magic. [cue: pointing and laughing] I take it the voice effects match as well?

It's good to see he got his comeupance. That twit has sent many of my low level parties right into the woodshed to many times to count. A nice tale, with a good ending.

BTW, excellent stats for a Cleric Mage.

I rather liked the stats. Not that strong, no prop, i use holy power A LOT anyway, and it gives 18/00 strength and the thaco of a fighter of the same level. Low constitution=low health, cure=vampiric touch=about 20 hp and righteus magic about the same(right?). sadly i most report that even though he might have been an ideal character to solo, solo isnt really my thing after all. Im gonna start a new game and send this one to gather dust. solo just no fun . Ill be posting a thread where i would like some suggestions on what my character should be. ill also post the party i plan to use. perhaps youll see some pics from that game, Time will tell. itll be complicated anyway cause ill have to transfer the pics from my playing computer to this computer, cause ive somehow managed to totally destroy my Internet connection in my other computer. or perhaps its in the cable that connects it to the "whatever its name is" box that ill now call "the host box".
