Thief NPC

I know that I will lose Yoshimo soon.....I was wondering if there is another real good NPC Thief out there. What is the general consensus of board members concerning this? Imoen?

Really good thief? Well, it's a shortage of thieves in BG2, there is Jan and he is the only thief/mage who can level up after Yoshi's untimely demise. Alternatives are much worse. Either Imoen or Nalia with full backpacks of potions of master thievery and potions of perception plus wearing every thieving skill enhancing item you can find, but still no good.

The only way to get a thief that will improve in levels without taking Jan is to dual-class YOUR character to a thief.

Ooops...I forgot....If you decide to download any of the Weimer Mods, you can choose to add Valen to your game.

She is a fighter/thief with an unusual heritage (to say the least). She'll make a good addition if you're party is evil.

Thanks I guess it's Jan. Next time I play through I'll make my Character a rouge. I'm so partial to Tanks though

After installing the BaldurDash patch, Imoen actually becomes enough of a Thief to support the party, especially if you give her the Mercykiller Ring and some Boots of Stealth (she doesn't really need anything else). Of course, she can never be the quintuple-Backstabbing, Trap-setting, Illusion-detecting powerhouse that Jan can be, but she's enough to get by with.

If you're stuck with Nalia as your only Thief (Mask forbid), download thee the Weimer's Item Upgrades MOD and build her the Gloves of the Master Thief, because BOY is she going to need them.

BTW, are there other mod thief NPCs (beside Valen)?

there are plenty of minor mods out there that will give you a thief NPC, although none are of the standard of Valen, Soulafein, Tashia etc. most are basically the equivellent of creating a multiplayer game and importing it to single player (which you can easily do yourself).
