I am starting to think the special Lightning Bolt attack used by a Priest of Talos is not capped off for damage like the mage spell.

The mage spell caps off at 10d6 correct? So, maximum of 60 damage.

Well, my solo Stormlord regulary gets lightning bolt damages of 80 or more at level 14.

Can anybody else comfirm this? The amount of sheer damage output this guy can produce is nuts. When attacked by slavers in betwixt maps, he slaughtered the whole group with one well aimed lightning bolt.

Playing evil cleric is great fun. He rescued a certian Drow and is now deciding what to do with her. His gut instincts tell him to keep her and paint Athkatla an ugly shade of red.

Something tells me this story could mirror Mickey and Mallory Knox... There is this whole Natural Born Killers thing going on here

Natural Born Killers, lol.

Yes, I played a stormlord in my second game - first evil party - and used the Vhailor soundset for him.

The soundset mixed with his penchant for tossing lightning bolts when someone ticked him off - you want how much for that potion of extra-healing? - made him a fun character to roleplay.

The Vhailor soundset (I think that is what it is called) has such classic lines
as:

"Mercy is a shield used by the weak."

Does Talos get angry?

I had one of Vic's lovetalks, where she gets just a little bit snippy. It was raining outside, and, she got struck by lightning?! What the heck happened? I have heard in ToSC (I don't have it) that you could be struck by lightning outdoors. It damn near killed her. It looked like the druid's call lightning spell. I was outdoors near the Keep getting ready to go inside and right after the love talk, she got ZAPPED!

Am I seeing things, or does this sort of thing happen on occasion? Or is Talos just being protective of his chosen Destroyer? All she had left was a sliver of life about as thick as one row of pixels, when I looked she was down to 2 hit points.

On a side note, I guess it was not meant for me to solo. Two angry evil clerics is just sick. Skeleton warriors serve as escorts, blessed, chanted, plus, all of the flung spells, angry cries, it is just two much fun. (Pun intended) I spoke with the guy in the Promanade that hates elves, and, when he saw Viccy was a Drow, he freaked, a bunch of guards attacked me, and, my reputation is currently ONE. I had to kill several Paladins that came to hunt me down, never heard of that happening before either. Needless to say Viccy is quite happy at this point. Maybe the lightning bolt changed her attitude about me.

No, Talos isn't mad at you, but you do get struck by lightning every time here or there. It kinda sucks sometimes.

That've never happened to me... Though I wouldn't mind if Cernd got zapped! Struck down by what he sees as the greatest - nature.

So can anybody else confirm the lightning bolt damage? Mine just seems to keep climbing. At level 16 I am already seeing damage listed all the way into the low 90s.

Either it was meant to be like this, or, since it was listed as a special ability (Accessable under the special abilities star) perhaps it is bugged in some way? If it keeps going this way, I shudder to think of what a level 40 Priest of Talos could do with a 40d6 bolt of lightning.

One interesting thing to note, when my cleric is badly wounded, I found early on I could heal my self with lightning. Use the Stormshield, and, Talos' Gift boots for huge Lightning resistance.

The big problem right now is keeping Viccy safe from my vicious thunderbolts.

Boots of grounding would keep her safe, as would the cloak of reflection

I can't comment on the lightning cap issue but i know Talos does get angry (or at least has an active sense of humour). If you swear allegiance to him in one of the Temple of Helm subquests, he replies by scorching you with a bolt of lightning (whilst you're indoors!)

It's crazy I know, but, people keep getting struck by the call lightning spell in my game. It has happened 7 times now, once to Viccy, and, 6 times to random enemies.

I got ambushed by Paladins again, and, when one of them scored a really good hit on me, he got zapped by a bolt from the heavens. It's getting spooky, it is almost as if being a Priest of Talos seems to attract lightning for some weird reason.

The Priest of Talos is a very powerful kit, for a cleric. He can become immune to all forms of elemental damage, he can dish out some nasty spells, and, as of right now, he has -9 AC. Lightning bolt is just plain deadly, and, yes, the damage just seems to keep climbing to insane levels of damage. Slay Living and Harm make short work of most anything. He and Viccy are a deadly combo, she handles healing and buffing, he handles offensive and most of the summoning.
