The $64,000 question - party composition

Finished the SOA portion, just started with TOB. Would appreciate some thoughts on whether I should take in Sarevok into my party, which currently comprises:

PC - level 21 Ranger
Keldorn - level 17
Sir Anomen - Fighter/Cleric 7/25
Imoen - Thief/Mage 7/18
Aerie - Cleric/Mage 16/15
Jaheira - Fighter/Druid 15/14

My playing style uses spellcasters more as "supporting fire" rather than primary offense capability. In other words, I would take on enemies from afar using ranged, using spells as needed to soften them or buff the party. Once the range has closed, the tanks switch to melee whilst the spellcasters continue with missile weapons.

For this reason I am tempted to drop Aerie from the party to make room for Sarevok. I need Imoen for her thieving skills, and Ja is the romantic interest.

Maybe in the first place I should forget about getting him, as he would be behind in development? Decisions, decisions....

Dude, I would get him if I were you. You've already admitted that you could use a tank/super-fighter type since you're more of a ranged party. You've probably already gone through most of your current NPC's dialogue. He will add a lot more. You probably already know about his geas/spoiler since your party is good, so there's no conflict in alignment. Behind in development, whatever, he levels up so fast as a fighter you won't care. Or, you could dual-class him to a theif and drop Imoen. Plus, you've probably already played with Aerie/Imoen several times. They're awesome but I think you should get him. Do it.

I would definetly drop Aerie and take Sarevok at this point, I was so sick of her whining by the beginning of TOB.

Is that the one with the modified ending - tougher Melissan, etc? Yes, I think I do.

The Improved Battles are a part of Ascension - but they can also be installed separately, so having them doesn't mean you have Ascension.

Do you have a file named WEIDU.TXT in your BG2 main folder?

I have a folder called Ascension, so I guess I have it. Now that I see it, I recall installing it utjust for the alternate Balthazr bit & the final battle. I didn't install the tougher, other, Bhallspawn.

So, Sarevok or Aerie?

Assuming Ascension is indeed installed, i urge you to pick Sarevok.
You won't regret it.

In addition to fitting your playing style better than her, Sarevok's character and relations with the PC are way more developed than Aeire's, and will also have some interesting dialogs with Imoen. [img]smile.gif[/img]
