I am planning having a regular ToB installed on the computer and another installation for use in TDD and other mods. The problems is that I can install Shadows of Amn more than once on the computer by selecting a new folder, but when I want to install ToB into the new folder it asks if I want to uninstall ToB from the original game installation. Obviously I don't.
Anyone with the technical knowhow that can tell me how to trick the computer into thinking that I don't already have ToB will be admired by me for a very long time... Please help. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Eh, how are you getting SoA on it more than once?
Whenever I try that, I get the same thing your getting with ToB. Anyway, theres a few exes on the CD, running setup.exe will probably let you install ToB again. If you can make this work, Ill be surprised though. Other than that, uninstall ToB, search the registry (with regedit) for all baldurs gate and bioware entries, not them, re-install ToB, rmeove the new entries, install your second ToB.

To get more than 1 SOA I have SOA + TOB and then reinstall SOA, perhaps its tricked? Also of course renaming the second install. Since it works with SOA I was really saddened when it would not cooperate with TOB....

Hehe, I just posted something like this on the SoA forum....
Anyway, reinstall BG2/ToB and then make a copy (For this case, we'll call it C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Backup\BGII - SoA\) Now, take your C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\ and do whatever you want with it. When you want the other copy (In your case TDD) just install whatever mods etc. to C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Backup\BGII - SoA\ and switch it with C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\. It takes up space and some time, but it's far less effort than reinstalling multiple times. Edit: Woohoo, Manshoon, whatever that is... Edit again: Just figured out he's Manshoon, Leader of the Zhentarim. [ 11-22-2002, 12:31 AM: Message edited by: Grammar ] |
