Right. I am starting a new game of BG2. As some of you already know, I do not like playing with a party, and as such have not done so often. This time however, I am thinking of taking a party through BG2 and into ToB. Since I do not have much experience with parties, I was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations. I am thinking of playing a sorceror, and I am definately taking Jan and Viconia (Jan for thieving skills, Viconia for romance ~ I want to have as few multi-classed characters as possible). Now, I was wondering who else I should have. I guess Keldorn's out because of V, and I don't really like Minsc. Any ideas for tanks? I would also like to have Mazzy with me as well.

Any thoughts would be welcomed.

EDIT: because I said that I do not like playing with a "game".

Cerned is a shapeshifter with magic, he's alright.
Mazzy is great! A good tank.
Yoshimo is a bounty hunter who can be duled, but if you don't want that you don't have to.
Just some thoughts.........

You use Mazzy as a tank? Mazzy is used best sniping in the rear lines with a bow.

Korgan should add alot of fire power to your party.

Valygar is quite ok.

Edwin IS a nice conjurer.

Isn't there a conflict between Valygar and Viconia?

I believe that if you talk to a harlot, they will argue and attack each other.

Then don't talk to a Harlot =)
To my knowledge, there's no conflict between them.... Valygar is a pretty quiet guy.
Some thoughts -
Cernd owns with the Shapeshifter rebalance (Overpowered IMO)
Kelsey/Edwin - Pretty good Casters. However, you already have yourself, so it depends upon if you like having more than one Mage type. I'd recommend Kelsey if you want to take another caster since I now far prefer Sorcs to Mages.
Keldorn - If you download the happy groups script
Anomen - Get him to Chaotic Neutral and he's O.K. (Personality wise, he's a better priest if you make him Lawful Good though, I think)
Korgan - Great fighter. Berserk is very nice. Along with summons he'll typically do fine along w/ Cernd until you get to ToB. Then throw in Sarevok for support and whip those monsters.
Sarevok - I know you can't pick him up in SoA but he's great when you get to ToB.
Yoshimo - I can't really recommend him b/c of you know what
Minsc - NOT LIKE MINSC? GO FOR THE EYES BOO, GO FOR THE EYES!!

If you can't decide on the right npc's and you don't mind cheating just ctrl+q a few characters and go with them. It kind of makes it interesting fighting a lich with a bunny rabbit.

Where do you get the Shapeshifter rebalance?
