![]() Quote:
If I undestood the discussion concerning items correctly, a "regular" item could more or less fully replace a special item (the player can even be prevented from dropping it) as event trigger. The difference is that the special item will remain in the party independently of NPCs joining and leaving, while a "regular" item is bound to the character carrying it. Correct? Another question: Is there any possibility to force an NPC to wear clothes and ready weapons before he/she enters the party? I have not found such an option in the NPC editor...

To answer your questions, yes and it would appear not.
![]() Perhaps there is some way that we can figure out an easy fix to the NPCs readying items. Maybe there could be an addition to the NPC editor equipment dialog, something like "Item Readied". |

To add a point to this, IIRC (unless I am way behind the developers on this) the NPCs will ONLY ready a weapon upon entering combat. Other items (like armor clothing ect) will be ignored and Nothing is readied before the NPCs first combat turn

Your memory is partially correct, ST.
![]() NPCs ready items and armor, but not until combat starts as you surmise. The exception is if you have a paladin in your party, then you can view the NPC and ready his or her items. (Maybe you can do this without a paladin?) There is a bug in the .914 version that makes it seem like the NPC is not readying armor, but Paul showed me that they were, the bug was between the items database and display. Fortunately, that was resolved quite a while ago. ![]() Last edited by manikus; 12-01-2009 at 10:36 AM. |

Well, I should have added that I was thinking about pre-generated characters (so that the player can ready items...). However, it is good to know that "normal" NPCs won't ready their stuff until combat... This is somewhat a drawback for me, since I wrote several scripts dealing damage to the party depending on AC - thus, the poor NPCs would then suffer much more damage then PCs/pre-generated characters, since the player would of course ready their armor...

I know that no has tried this in DC...
I just fired up version .914 and added a 10th level fighter NPC to my party of one 1st level PC and simply selected the NPC, selected Items and readied the armor and weapon. ![]() So, there we have it. If an NPC is in the party, the player may ready items. If the NPC is not in the party, they will not ready weapons or armor until combat starts. |
