I hope I don't regret this...
First, lemme say that I am still seeking my license to repair PCs out of my home, but I also have an ability to make some nice batches of fudge. Making fudge in NC for sale does not require a particular license, I found out. I just have to meet criteria for cleanliness inside the home. For almost a year now, I've been bringing in samples of my work to my workplace full of women and having them comment. Now that I have a proven product line, I have posted my desire to start selling fudge, and am using the company's intranet forum to do so. In less than an hour, I've obtained three orders. Now I am wondering if I priced correctly, if I have time to do this, etc. With the holidays coming up, that's why I am starting now...but am I ready? I hope so! My best seller: Chocolate-dipped peanut butter fudge.

So what's your product line?
I'd guess that things dipped/covered in chocolate would be popular and easy -- dried fruit, nuts, raisins, pretzels, potato chips, popcorn. Do the NC laws let you sell by mail? Get some of your customers to write short testimonials. That plus some mouth-watering pics could be your advertising copy...

Actually, around christmas you'll see a large jump in sales. Make sure you have a "seasonal box" or w/e lined up, so it looks all gift-wrapped and cheerful. That way, someone looking for a nice little gift will see your displays are practically ready-to-go and perfect for their loved one or friend. This will likely be your most successful time of year.
Don't underestimate the value of sugary things, many people give chocolates and sweets as gifts especially to people they may not know very personally, but still want to get them something - because it's almost always a sure bet they will like it, and basically a nice all-round gift to receive. Such as the neighbours or in-laws you don't see very often. I imagine thanksgiving may garner you some elevated sales too.

Good luck Larry!
![]() There is a little fudge stand here at Logan Airport in the Jetblue terminal. Must be a success to some degree because it's been there for years. I can see why, it makes a great and easy gift as well as a treat for "yourself"! It's always hard to resist! ![]()
