Somewhere theres a rodeo needing a clown and Owens fits the bill. Or is it barrel? Sadly, I'm sure some NFL team will eventually sign the primadonna. Raiders or Redskins come to mind, both have owners who are lacking in common sense in football decisions.

An ESPN reporter made a good comparison between T.O. and Randy Moss yesterday. Moss was as big a primadonna as TO until he went to New England. Then he finally settled down and became team player. I think TO was starting to head in that direction at Dallas. This was the first time he has talked about being on one team until he retires and even defended his QB against criticism from the media. But TO just hasn't grown up as much as Moss did. When things started going bad, TO went right back to his primadonna ways.

Reports from ESPN yesterday said that, according to his own people, TO was completely devestated by this decision. He wanted to be in Dallas from now on and thought that was going to happen. But, in the end, he is still his own worst enemy because of the antics he does.

Something else that surprised me on the ESPN report was the number of teams their analysts felt would NOT be interested in hiring TO. The number of teams that just don't think TO is worth the risk far outweighs the number willing to take that risk, even though almost all of them could benefit from TO's skills.

The Raiders are an obvious choice. The only requirement Al Davis seems to have is that they don't have any current warrants outstanding. But even Randy Moss couldn't handle the dysfunctional atmosphere in Oakland, so I don't know that TO would do any better.

The other possibility, of course, is that TO and his people come back to Jerry Jones with a promise that TO will straighten up. Jones actually wants TO on his team, but unlike Al Davis, he accepted the fact that the rest of his staff (including his own son) did not. That's what swayed his decision. But there is always the possibility he could change his mind if given enough assurances that TO would turn over a new leaf.

A different approach, indeed. Talent is one thing, the ability to flaunt another, doing both simultaneously is difficult at best. Setting a club record of 15 TDs in one season is admirable. Setting a club record of 22 drops in the same one season can create a cutting situation.

Quote:
The Romo-Owens relationship appeared to fray late this past season, with Owens upset about everything from game plans to pass distribution. He had 213 yards in one game, but cracked 100 yards in only one other game, the otherwise forgettable finale.

Dallas already has a replacement as the top receiver in another Roy Williams, who led the NFC in yards receiving in 2006. The Cowboys gave up a first-, third- and sixth-round pick in the upcoming draft to get him from Detroit midway through last season.

In addition to Williams and Hurd, the Cowboys also have receivers Patrick Crayton and Miles Austin, plus Jason Witten, among the best receiving tight ends in the NFL.

What Romo and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett no longer have are any concerns about is whether No. 81 is happy.

“I know it takes a lot of pressure off Romo,” Hurd said. “A guy like him demands the ball and you want to get him the ball. Now he can look at all of us and see which one is open on any given play. … I don’t think that was a problem. That’s just what could and might start happening.”

Looks like he signed with Buffalo for $6 + mil for one year guarenteed. Kind of surprises me he went to Buffalo, Trent Edwards isnt a marquis QB so expect a lot of TO whining in the upcoming season.

Well it seems that TO may have gotten a harsh dose of reality as far as is popularity goes. As Felix points out, TO's talent is easily offset by the distractions he creates (not to mention the number of passes he drops). He did not have a good season at Dallas this year, so he did nothing to improve his market value. And I'm sure the other owners are saying to themselves "If Jerry Jones - who openly admitted how much he wanted TO to be a cowboy - decided the bad outweighed the good with TO, why should WE bring that kind of trouble to our team?"

The comment from Hurd speaks volumes...There was an unspoken pressure for Romo to look for TO FIRST and all other recievers second. Now that pressure is gone.

I wouldn't have thought of Buffalo for TO either (especially at the price of 6M with only 4M guaranteed), but TO is now in a situation where he has to take what he can get.
