Crazy File extensions/suffix .mht

I have been rx'ing lately(last 6 months or so) emails from folks whose attachments are sometimes in a format that has the file suffix ".mht" (minus quotes). I am usually unable to open these files. They 'try' to open, but the window opened has no video or text formatting. Google reveals that this is some sort of web archiving, and has something to do with MIME. However, Google does not seem to offer a way to OPEN or PLAY said format. If anyone here has any knowledge and/or experience with this format and how to open/play files in this format, it would be appreciated. TIA

Default Re: File extensions/suffix .mht

Some quick research shows that it's an IE proprietary format. Have you tried opening in IE?

This link has some impressive data and testing results... trying to open a .mht file in multiple applications. IE7 and Opera apparently handle it.
